    Mortgage-free Glee!
Thanks, Spiggle. I've made a smaller overpayment this month as I'm trying to split any available money between loan overpayments, mortgage overpayments and major house renovations. Beans on toast for a few months I think!

    Lurker coming back :A

I used to be part of this thread untill i had to pull out due to pregnancy etc (im now 24 weeks) but i still check to see how your all getting on :p.

I see alot of people make OP of random amounts like £25 or £50, do you guys just walk into your bank (who lent you the mortgage) and pay it off at the counter or do you have to do direct debit overpayments?
Im with Lloyds bank and would LOVE to just put in little and often bits of spare money without having to be commited to overpayments.

Did that make sence? Can anyone advise :) x

^ Thankyou ~ really pleased about pregnancy but i dont like the pay decrease! lol.

I dont have any other accounts with Lloyds (only my Mortgage) so online banking isnt to good for me :(. All our earnings go into an Halifax account then i thought i could withdraw a little bit of cash and walk to Lloyds bank and deposit it at the counter.

I like how technology is moving on with online systems etc, but i do like my little paper book wallets we used to get with the exactly sum in it :rotfl:x

Way off my usual form of posting on the first of the month...:o

Other things in my life distracting me. Still, we're still making good progress and successfully applied for yet another credit card. Stoozing funds going as overpayments, which are actually going into a savings account.

August is another month where I've decided to put £2,250 against the mortgage - taking off standard mortgage payment of 887.41 leaves 1,362.59 as the overpayment. Way ahead of plan, meaning I should clear my mortgage before my 12/12/12 target. Here's the year to date stats:

    #29 - Overpay by £10,400.00.

Month: Ideal Pay / Ideal Total / Ideal % / Actual Pay / Actual Total (Diff) / Actual %

    January: 866.67 / 866.67 / 8.33% / 862.59 / 862.59 (-4.08) / 8.29%
    February: 866.67 / 1,733.33 / 16.67% / 1,202.59 / 2,065.18 (+331.85) / 19.86%
    March: 866.67 / 2,600.00 / 25.00% / 1,112.59 / 3,177.77 (+577.77) / 30.56%
    April: 866.67 / 3,466.67 / 33.33% / 1,112.59 / 4,290.36 (+823.69) / 41.25%
    May: 866.67 / 4,333.33 / 41.67% / 1,112.59 / 5,402.95 (+1,069.62) / 51.95%
    June: 866.67 / 5,200.00 / 50.00% / 1,212.59 / 6,615.54 (+1,415.54) / 63.61%
    July: 866.67 / 6,066.67 / 58.33% / 1,362.59 / 7,978.13 (+1,911.44) / 76.71%
    August: 866.67 / 6,933.33 / 66.67% / 1,362.59 / 9,340.72 (+2,407.59) / 89.21%

    Total overpaid: £9,340.72

Aiming to commit a further £1,362.59 as an OP in September and then going to take stock from there :D

    Evening all,

You should be able to do what you outline kitjos. Just contact Lloyds and ask them for the correct sort code, account no. and reference (probably your mortgage account no.) to make payments over the counter.

From the googledoc, another superb OP rjlawler, and you are well ahead of your current target.

Also financialbliss, a wonderful OP that takes you so close! Well done, you must be so excited. I love the way you lay out your stats too, very helpful.

Off to watch the Olympics again now. Have a good evening everyone.

    Take care,

Hi all, no 4 reporting in. I have confused myself a little with my OP's as I make an automatic OP each month due to rate change of new mortgage and I haven't figured out how to change the SO date to send OP's whenever I like. So....as I find extra money I have been trying to keep a running total.

My figures are for September but if I don't update now I will never remember! In addition to what I have already stated I am sending another £110 OP which takes my total OP for September to £221. I think I will direct any extra funds I have to my savings account!!
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!
  • Number 80 checking in.

I mentioned previously but I am am not overpaying just yet due to my lucky position with a tracker mortgage so I am saving the money with a view to paying off the mortgage when it makes financial sense.

I am still bang on target :) £1,100 saved every month from March - August.

Spiggle, thanks for a fantastic effort with this thread!

No 30 checking in with another £100 OP ... well it is Fri and my savings are looking pretty healthy so I thought I'd throw it at the mortgage. No nights out planned for any of us this weekend, even keeping away from the wine rack -boo!

    Have a good weekend everyone.
