no idea where to post this
we were going to have pasta tonight! pasta was in a large 3 k plastic bag from tesco a while ago, when we needed it i pour what will fit into a large plastic cereal container
poured some out tonight into pan and noticed in the bottom of the container little black bugs!
i felt so sick as we had pasta last week from there
looked in the sealed plastic bag at the rest and sure enough they are in there
about 6 that i could see
i presume the boiling of the past last week will have stopped me catching something? i have a very low immune system due to illness
i of course chucked it all amid lots of screaming
then realised i needed to show tesco
so i now have in a bag outside the back door, the tesco packaging with some pasta and hopefully some bugs
so how do i aproach this with tesco. do i go in, god i cant imagine anything worse
ring or what?
is there any point?
wont they just think i put them there?
what were they?
thanks in advance for any advice

They won't hurt you. They get into everything. We need pictures to identify what they were exactly. Tesco will gladly refund the purchase price. Whether it's worth the hassle, the drive down to Tesco and going over the incident again is up to you.:footie:

no idea why i posted it a few times??? sorry
how do i delete0 -
I would assume that the bugs got in there once you opened the bag not that they were in there when you purchased it (not sure if it's brought or bought!!).Slightly bitter0

i dont see how they can have got in there after opening. pasta was poured straight into air tight container0

they are weavils. they don't harm you but they are nasty looking. they can be in cereal and rice. you'll need to check your other stuff incase they've spread. search the forum for more posts:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

They get in everywhere! Trust me! It might look airtight but the little weevils get everywhere
PS. Brought is the past participle of 'Bring'. Bought is the past participle of 'buy'. So you bought pasta, then brought it home. :-)What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
ive checked everything else as all cereal stored next to it yuk but there is no more0

we have had exactly the same thing tonight had to chuck out half a bag of pasta and they were also in the box that we store the pasta in too!£27.76/£2018 in 20180

Weavils are in ALL pasta, rice, grains, flour etc. The eggs are in the grains. They are a fact of life. You cannot avoid them. You cannot extract them or prevent them. They are too tiny. It's not Tesco's fault. ALL dried goods such as pasta have weevil eggs in them. It's just that normally you consume the pasta before the weevils have a chance to hatch out, so you don't see them.
Once some weevils have hatched out into your cupboard they will get into EVERYTHING so it's best to throw out anything that is currently open, clean out your cupboards with bleach, and get into the habit of transferring dried goods into airtight boxes once they are opened. Also, periodically go through your cupboard and throw away anything that's been there for a while, because it's only a matter of time before the weevils will hatch out of it.
I don't do much baking now, but after my first brush with the weevils, when I used to buy flour, I always kept it in the freezer. Keeping it frozen prevents the weevil eggs from hatching out, so you can keep the flour indefinitely and not have to throw it out when the weevils appear.

Hiya,
Many of us have seen this in flour. In fact that's the usual source for them and then they travel...
Usually, a straightforward approach to the shop (customer services desk if they have one) will get things sorted out.
You need to do a thorough inspection of your pantry or storage cupboard and especially all opened packs of dried goods - and have a darn good clean of all shelves.
Have a read here: Creepy crawly things in flour!!!! & weevils & bugs (merged)
