Vodafone transfer from Sim Only contract to Full contact and keep number?
Hi, I'm on a 30 day rolling sim only contract with Vodafone. I want to upgrade my phone which I had bought PAYG. Now and have seen a good deal with Vodafone on a 12 month contract. However it seems I can't simply take my old number with me as it's the same network.
As far as I can see I would need to cancel my sim only contract and convert to a PAYG on another network. In the mean time buy the new mobile then convert my PAYG number to my new phone.
So my questions are:
1. Is there a time limit after buying a new phone in which you can transfer a number to it?
2. Are Vodafone likely to have an issue transfering a number that was previously on their network back again from say O2 or something?
If you can suggest a better way of doing this I'm all ears!! Thanks.

not necessarily true - it depends HOW you do the switch.
The Sim only product on a 30 day rolling contract is not a 'phone attached' contract, therefore the networks see these slightly differently. In fact they would see you going from 30 day rolling to a full contract, therefore treating you as an upgrade - if you are doing this direct with Vodafone the sales team at Vodafone should be able to upgrade you keeping the number, without the hassle of porting out.
If you are doing it through a third party check with them - it depends if they will offer you the same deal you've found as its not a new contract, but an upgrade...
Call the sales team at vodafone if its them doing the deal and speak to them about it... they *shouldn't* have any issue doing it (I've done it on Vodafone, o2 and Orange in the past...)0 -

Vodafone won't let me keep my number for a new contract0 -
Call Vodafone and tell them you are considering leaving them - explain the reason. They will put you through to retentions and bend over backwards to keep you. Retentions tend to have a lot more power than upgrades.0
