Program hangs using wireless router

Need some help on this. My DH installed a wireless router at the weekend. Internet is working fine but I use some software for a job I do that always hangs, meaning I cant use it whilst using the wireless connection. Pretty pointless lol
Have asked around and been advised it could be the pc network card or a firewall problem. Not sure really how to go about finding which problem it might be or which it is most likely to be. Is it likely that I cant fix this and have to go back to using the telewest modem?

Does the software still work with the old router ? Is that old router still available ?
If so you may need to set up a VPN throught the inbuilt firewall of the new wireless router. You maybe able to see how the old router was set up ?
Have you got office tech department to ask for the settings ?
There may be mention of tunnelling, proxies, ip forwarding, don't worry ... all similiarRich people save then spend.

Could you elaborate on this bit..
"Internet is working fine but I use some software for a job I do that always hangs, meaning I cant use it whilst using the wireless connection."
what is the link between the hanging and the wireless connection? Does KES use the internet, or is it a standalone app?
VPN is a virtual private network, and encrypted link across the internet from a home to a workplace.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Yes, Kes uses the internet. It's a knowledge entry system (if you didnt know that bit)“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

Where does it save the data to?
Is it connected to your work system using a vpn?
Does it only hang when using wireless, does it work with a wired connection through the router?
If you are using a vpn, you could try reducing the mtu setting on the router to 1400Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Ermm dont know.
Sorry dont know if I'm using a vpn or not, assume that I'm not?
Only tried when pc was using wired connection through the router. Havent tried wireless only. Will get my OH to try that and see if it makes any difference.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Still struggling to understand your problem.. what is the issue with wireless
Do you mean that using a wired ethernet connection to the wireless router, kes hangs, but using a direct connection with the same lead to the cable modem, it works?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Yes, that is what I mean.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

What is the nature of the hang, does it do it straight away, any error messages?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
