Forum Username and Case Sensitivity.

I've for a long time been having log in problems with the MSE forums. Often having to click the forgot my password link.
Today I figured out why, the forum username login controls are case sensitive. Maybe they should not be. After all do you allow different users with the same name but different case?
For Example:
Scottie_UK
scottie_uk
scottie_UK
and so on.
Even if you did allow this it might be mightly confusing for users to distinguish one from another. I'm supposing you don't allow this and its just the log in controls that are case sensitive. If so it would be better to make these not case sensitive and thus much more usable. It would also reduce the load on the server as many users would not need to click the forgot my password link like I mistakenly kept doing.

Why should it not be the computer recognises upper and lower cases as different, so does this forum. If you didnt allow it you have to have loads of people change there username just to suit you
If you forget your username use software that can save usernames/passwords simple and effective0 -
You could have simply made a ote of the username and password you used.0
