Hi. I used your template to reclaim for mortgage exit fee and interest from First Active (part of RBS). Its was only for £35 but the letter was so quick and easy to do and i had all the information. Imagine my delight when I received a letter today, apologising for any inconvenience caused and to say they will be crediting my bank account with £195 fee and £24.83 interest as a gesture of goodwill. Very happy. Still to hear back from them regarding missold PPI but this is a very good start!0

Have moved so many times in the last 10 years or re-mortgaged the same property I couldn't remember who I have had mortgages with. So wrote a standard letter to the lenders I remembered using supplying a list of the addresses I had a mortgage on. Have already received money back from Alliance & Leicester - £74 charged 11 years ago! They refunded this with 11 years interest at 8% - came to £174!. Halifax has refunded me £125 - £50 deed processing fee and £75 exit fee on two separate mortgages. Intelligent Finance has agreed to pay me back £140. Still waiting to hear from the Nationwide. Good results!0

Hi Guys (Newbie, so still trying to work my way around site)
Currently in DMP with CCCS thanks to this site and no thanks to the Yorkshire Bank:mad:
Now I have time to read through papers (just lost my job) etc.always had a bad feeling as if I was 'screwed' by the Yorkshire Bank re: Mortgage and a 1 month O/D facility, this happened when my back was against the wall in 2008 due to CC. Exit fees for 2 properties £3000 each to be paid on sale or refinance + £3700 arrangement/establishment fee + Surveyor fee £470 + Security fee £400 + transfer fee £340 all paid when re-financed + Interest over 12 months ranging from 26.5% + 7% to every month for £198k.
I really do not know what I was charged for at the time...just wanted the money to get out of a hole.Any ideas what I can claim back please?

I have contacted the Halifax and given them the dates and addresses including post codes of our five mortgages with them they asked me for our roll number which I don't have I have pointed out to them that all my mortgages have been paid from a Halifax account , they have offered me a cheque for £40 which I have returned to them and not accepted, I had to contact them as no one contacted me, they are still saying they cant do anything without the roll number, any advice out there for me.0

This thread is in relation to MEAFs and not any other fees. So, based on those lists, none of them are reclaimable.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If you have always stayed with the same lender and just changed the borrowing or deals then you wouldnt have paid any MEAF until the final mortgage. So, what is it you are holding out for?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Hi,
Has anyone had success from the Ombudsman when beyond the time limit?
Just been turned down by Northern Rock because out of time limit.
(Mortgage was redeemed in 2005. Was charged £250, charge was £150 when I took the mortgage out in 2002)
The first I heard about this particular bank robbery was here on MSE in April.
Is that a good enough argument to have my case considered, or anyone made a better argument for why they should be heard beyond the 6 year limit?
Thanks,
Anniey0 -
