Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Sqeaky, that chic link isn.t working.
Or at least not for me, it says it doesn't exist.

Just one thing about the suggestions to paint: 1. make sure you get the LL's written permission in writing first; 2. be aware he may require you to repaint to the original colour before you leave.

Also be aware that if you don't paint to his 'standards', you may nevertheless find yourself penalised by him for repainting.
  • Having lived in a few rented properties desperate for a real home I understand.

At the time I found Asda had some great nik naks at a good price, like lampshades and vases etc.

To help add a bit of personal touch, I found putting a rug down in the lounge and some cushions helped (both Ikea - great value.)

In the bedrooms, a nice bed set is a good idea, matching a lampshade.

I also replaced a lot of the curtains with our own to make it a bit more 'ours' (Asda, and Ikea)

A couple of new doormats help too.

If you replace anything, make sure you keep the original as the landlord may not want your replacement when you move out.
