Pop down the motorway towards the coast and visit Las Alpujarras...beautiful mountains and picturesque traditional villages. A good day out.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Second the Alhambra - it's beautiful! Can't remember if the guided tours were optional (something in the back of my mind's telling me they were??) but if not they're wrorth paying a little extra for! If you do this one, wear comfy shoes cos it'll take a few hours!0

Wewere in granada for a two full days last week. The Alhambra is the obvious place to go. Book (online) an early ticket , say 9:00 and you will beat the crowds. We were there practically on our own at that time.
We also visited one of the Arabic Baths (not Hamman) and spent a relaxing 2 hours there including a massage.
The cathedral was good for a 1 hour visit.
Apart from that, it was pretty much walking the streets and eating and drinking. If you are staying for anymore than a couple of days then I would advise looking for a tour outside Granada. maybe a visit to Seville or Malaga?0 -

I wondered whether there would be enough to keep us occupied for the length of the trip, would like to get down to the coast, say Nerja is that possible ?0 -
Nerja takes about 1 hour and a half by car and is very easy. Have you thought about going up to the Sierra Nevada for the day? It's lovely and lunch there is very reasonable. We've done the beach in the morning and the snow in the afternoon!

Winters a great time to go to Granada. You won't have any trouble seeing the Alhambra and Generalife - you don't need to pre book, just turn up.It's a bit different in the Summer when it's crowded and you really have to pre book. Granada's a lovely place with lots to see, try and find a Guide that's got top 10 sites to see, and just do it yourself, walking or by bus.0
