  • Things like this happen all the time, I was in a private rental on notice and got a 4 bedroom housing association house when technically I am only entitled to a two bed. Not complaining though its massive and I love it but it needs alot of work doing and there some right tw@ts around!
  • Perhaps she lost/forgot her sign-in details. The other name (with the "OMG twins" thread) hasn't been active since August. It could even be a different person with similar circs. I guess we'll wait and see.

The OP switches between the two usernames in the same thread.

You're making yourself look silly by trying to come up with all sorts of reasons that are not valid. Perhaps it is best to let the OP answer questions that are addressed to them?

    IHow are they subsidised?
The rents charged do not reflect the cost of construction, maintenance and adminstration.
Whether they rent them out for £100 a week or £1000 a week they are still making money from them to go into maintaining current properties or building new ones etc.
If rents don't reflect the costs mentioned above, then where is the shortfall coming from?

    Answer - the taxpayer.

Social housing rents are affordable, but not subsidised.
'Affordable' presumably being defined as 'a rental rate unobtainable anywhere in the private sector'.
Most providers actually run at a profit (surplus) which helps to fund new builds and improvements.
It depends on what sort of 'provider' you are talking about. Straight council (council owned and adminstered) invariably run at a loss.

No she doesn't. The OMG twins poster hasn't posted since August.

No more silly than you for assuming them not to be valid when you appear to know even less than me.

Wrong, I'm afraid. Many Council budgets were subsidised by housing revenue, not the other way round. It was all those greedy owner occs being subsidised, as usual.

Most (if not all) modern providers charge affordable rent, invest in new builds AND make a surplus.

Not always, no. There are parts of the country where social housing rents are higher than private. Are you suggesting that social housing is subsidising the private sector in those areas?

Only because of historic under investment by councils forced to use housing revenue to prop up other council expenditure.
