  • as an update: after speaking to barclays head office this morning it seems that barclaycard as a whole is "outside the uk"
thres is no one you can telephone to speak to in the uk at all, unless its a lost card and thats a third party call service not barclaycard.

so..unless your fluent in indglish i'd really suggest you avoid having anything to do with these people.
  • guess what just came in the post?
yep..the card i was told last night hadnt and wouldnt be sent...

barclaycard india ltd cant even tell if a card application has been processed or even posted. they just lie or make things up.

This is exactly what I found.

And their underwriting team don't seem to be any more on the ball either.

    Applied on the 16th.

    Approved on the 17th

    Declined on the 23rd.

Go figure. And they hadn't done any more credit searches since the 16th, just one on Equifax that's it nothing else, so god only knows why they reversed their decision - will see what they send back from my request for more information... I'd understand if they'd done a follow up enquiry with Experian as my Experian file is shot to pieces but nada...

Well done on getting your card through! Hope they dont rescind it :o

  • Actually I told em to stick it!
after finding out there is no uk contact centre I wouldnt have given them the buisness anyway..but the way the whole thing has been handled I wouldnt give them the time of day if they had offerd me two years zero percent.

I found a nice card provider..based in the uk and with a very good rate offer. no drama and no stuipid mistakes.

I just hope I can spare others the wasted time and frustration ive had to endure!

Barclaycard now and previously and no issues.

What do you need a call centre for?

    Free money is free money.

What happens if there's a problem with your account or application then?

Until I cut up my Barclaycard in September, I used their online services for making payments etc which were indeed excellent.

But when I contacted them by secure message about closing the account I got the usual useless, offhand Indian response because they had not properly understood the question being asked. You are generally much better posting a letter to the UK addresses of companies that use Indian call centres than tearing your hair out and going round in circles phoning or emailing them. Better still ditch them and only companies with UK call centres.

    ^ This.

Couldn't agree more. I generally make a rule of writing to any company with offshore call centers, the cost of a stamp is less than the cost of a phone call, and the time taken to write a letter is much less than the time taken going round and round in circles with script monkeys who have no authority and poor understanding of the English language / law...

Thats not true I recently applied for a barclaycard online. I was accepted instantly online received the card two days later. However I registered my account online everything was OK so I thought to find out they put a block on my account.

I couldn't make head or tail of it over the phone speaking to people india then received a letter a few days later asking me to call them. I did and spoke to someone in there applications team and they was based in UK... They asked me a few questions then told me id been accepted and a letter would follow confirming my credit limit.

Im not at home now until the 12/12/11 otherwise id post the telephone number I had to call for them. Actually Ill see if i can get it off my phone bill........
