after seeing the barclays platinum card balance transfer offer on here I filled in the online form, and then was told it needed refferal..odd i though as i dont have any credit problems.
the next day I tried to call barclays to ask what the problem was..it was there I realised what a huge mistake i had made.
they dont have any call centres in the uk..all abroad.
I have a fierce policy of not doing buisnes with anyone who wont use uk workforce...after many attemps they tell me that the computers are down and my application has not been processed or even seen by anyone.
I call again 5 or 6 times and get the same answer.
phew..lucky escape.
I call another card provider..talk to a human in england and get approval at a good rate.
tonight (week later) theres an email from barclaycard..
you guessed it..my card approved and in the post and both balance transfers are under way....:(
I have the indian experience once again  and they tell me its stopped. I ask about what effect this will have on my credit rating..they say no idea! they must have done a search on me to appove the huge limit they had given me (not asked for!)
so what now? I just know the cards going to still arrive in the post and if the balance transfers dont happen i'll be amazed!
the customer service is a joke..theres no way to get to a uk call centre and its all 0845 numbers. im on virgin so have to pay! I would give barclaycard a very wide berth if what happend to me is anything to go by!

I am also on Virgin. With a little bit of effort (SayNoTo0870) you can find geographic numbers for them that work. The call centre that I have reached has been in the Philippines, and the girls who answer have VERY sexy voices! Oh: they dealt with all my credit card issues with reasonable efficiency, although by the end of the call I had forgotten that was why I was calling!0

I used to work at a call centre in Swansea, and we were next door to a really big Virgin Media call centre, so they definitely have some staff over here.DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

at least you had a reply from them and approved card..... I applied on the 16th and just rang them again and was told that the application is still open. Telling me that they might need more documents/signatures before deciding.... However, that is what they said on Monday as well!!! and still not received any documents from them, which they say should be sent out next Monday..... Never experienced such slow service when applying for credit card....0

I recieved a letter dated 17th November stating I'd been approved asking for more documents.
I recieved another letter today dated 23rd November stating I don't meet their criteria. I called to ask why, they stated because of the documents I sent back.
I pointed out I hadn't sent anything back yet... The chap didn't know what to say.
Makes you wonder. He was clearly making things up on the spot without actually knowing anything about my application whatsoever.
They did a search with Equifax but nothing with Experian or Call Credit showing - all green on Equifax not one tiny iota of negative history there, 'tis a field of green dating back many years - only negative credit history I have is with Experian - who they didn't consult, so who knows?
Have written to them asking for more info.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Thanks for that I haven't heard anything either and pretty sure I applied on 16th (when Martin's email came out).
I'm on a good salary with spotless credit record.
I haven't been chasing it.0 -
the only thing I can think of why its taking so long is that I have almost 60% credit/loan used of my salary now.... might be pushing the limit.... but still, they could have at least update the status rather than saying its open.... as izools was saying.... it might be that they dunno what else to say to the open app....0
