For the period he's ill, a claim for ESA would probably be appropriate.
This will (initially) be contributory, and be paid regardless of your salary.
Initial payments should be quite fast.
ESA will continue to be paid for at least a year, if he's still sick enough to qualify.
If he's sick for 3 months, with a realistic prospect of 6 months future care or mobility needs - then a claim for DLA.
Council tax benefit, housing benefit (if renting), or assistance with your mortgage from ESA is possible.
I don't think your (working) daughter is entitled to anything - unless she works few enough hours to be qualified for JSA.0
