Thank you Mrs Chip! I'm due a big kitchen cupboard clearout, so these may well find a space when I'm done0

If I can find them they should last me ages. I sometimes put foil around meat I am roasting or have in an oven but these roasting bags sound great!
Update:
10 at ASDA for £1.27...
10 at Wilkinsons for £1.20...
Loads at Amazon(some are ok to be used in a microwave)

Hi Kitschy ! Welcome!
No the bags are not re-usable. I got 50 and 200 (!!!) bags from ebay for under a tenner (I think the bigger bags were 10 for 2.99 in the supermarket here) so they work out pretty cheap and they pay for themselves saving cleaning time and less shrinkage.
I too have been using these bags for years, save all that washing and scrubbing roasting tins..., plus meats dont shrink as well:D.....I usually buy mine from supermarket made by baco foil, I didnt think about getting them on line...........Ive also cooked a mini stew in the bags, meat veg etc...........0 -

I saw the Baco one's but they seem to be sold in twos?
I did buy some now I come to think of it earlier in the year but these came with some kind of sachet, you put the meat in the bag and empty the sachet that adds some kind of flavour, close the bag up but these roasting bags are just the bags and nothing added..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Hi everyone
Happy birthday PAH glad you enjoyed your day.
I love using my slowcooker but have never thought of using cooking bags in it. Daft question but do you need to put any liquid into the slowcooker or just in the bags?
OH not back from work yet. Is working in Coventry all week so with travel is putting in 13 hour days. Will rustle up an omlet for him when he gets in, hope its not too long as my meds have kicked in and I can hardly stay awake.
DD1 is on a night out with her mates and DD2 has emerged from her piy and has settled in front of the TV. It is a wonder that her body has not gone into shock with being out of her room for so long. Teenagers are a strange breed. I also leave them a list of jobs to do whilst OH and I are at work and they are pretty good about doing them but I suspect that the list is rushed through just before I am due home.
Must remember to get some fish out of the freezer tonight to make a fish pie for tea tomorrow. Have two small packs of fish pie mix that were a YS bargin.
To add to the discussion of working andstay at home mums I wentback to work when she was 12 weeks old as we could not afford fo me not to be working. We were very lucky at getting a very good and reasonably priced child minder. DD2came along3 years later andI had 10 months off then went back to work as OH was made redundant and took over the child care. When he got back into work 18 months later the child minder had tsopped work due to ill health. We used a combination of private nursery and my mum. This was the only way we could afford to provide the child care we needed. Mum has helped me and my 3 sisters out with child care and loves having the grand kids to stay. My two are 16 and 19 now but I have neices and nephews that are still young (5 and 7) who mum still helps with child care. I knowmumlooking after my 2 has made them really close. My mum was a SAHM and money was very tight but we had a good childhood. I have not been able to be a SAHM but I do not think that my kids have been affected by this. There have been some things I missed while they wre growing up but that was more to do with the shifts I worked. I look forward to helping my girls with child care but as I will not be able to retire until I am 67 I might have missed that opportunity
Hope you all have a good evening.
Mrs VPI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

That's a good question about roasting bags and slow cookers, hopefully there will be an answer soon.
Interesting post Mrs VG...so you've been caught by the new retirement age:mad:He could decide to put it back still further yet! Even without officially making that the age to retire, in the present climate I suspect many will have to work up to and past that date whether they wish to because they cannot afford to retire."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. When I cook a chicken I put fresh herbs inside it and into the bag, season and squeeze a lemon in then stick the shell in the cavity too. This makes a lovely tasty chicken and a delish stock (or chicken dripping for toast
). The beauty is that you can add any flavourings you like, and cook smaller larger amounts of meat (like chicken portions) and bung them in with other things that are cooking. I guess in the SC all the liquid goes into the bag rather than the SC, although I would put minimal liquid in. Will have to have a bit of an experiment!
Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
I've already had this discussion with DH. I can't retire until I'm 68 and no doubt the goal posts will change by then. At 68 my eldest will be 48, youngest 45. They won't have under 5's running around then will they?
Do you know what I think will happen? We'll have to go back to all families living under one roof, mum dad, kids, grandma's ,even, sister's husbands and their kids. Might happen. All hands to the deck to survive and keep at least one roof for a family.I'm off on cloud cukoo land again arn't I? Maybe, maybe not.0 -
Once the current older generation are no longer around, and with the pension age being continually increased, volunteers ( in CS, hospitals etc) and the availability of people to care not only for grandchildren, but their parents (we are living longer), will drop drastically; all this unpaid/care saves the country huge amounts of money, so what will the government do then?0

Bother just typed a long post and lost it, dont have the heart to retype, so please accept my apologies for not naming everyone, just to say I am keeping you all in my thoughts during these stressful times.
And of course Happy Birthday PAH:)
DS has escaped from school again, first yesterday (luckily I caught him) and then today he got out whilst staff were watching him. Apparently he is now extremely high risk and they are frantically looking to contain him. Meantimes extra staff are being drafted in to cover critical moments but I swear I am beyond worried.
On the flip side they have dramatically changed the educational side and his old teacher (infants) now has control of his class - when he is in her care no issues at all. Enjoying, engaging and learning, but when he returns to own setting is when the problems hit.
Seriously contemplating a rota of volunteers to sit outside school and see if we can keep him in that way.0
