Oh how funny, I just came in here to catch up
I wish you lot wouldn't talk so much when I'm not in the room, it takes ages to catch up.
I had a lovely time at GD'S birthday party on Saturday but as always then had 3 days of slump to get over it -but it was worth it.
I wish like hell that I had trained as a benefits/welfare rights adviser - they are so desperately needed now. That would be a job worth doing!
Has anybody got a link to the thing about Cameron's latest evil plot - cutting benefits in the north ? I'm going watch this carefully and have decided (first time ever) to email some of my MSPs about it.
I loved the Back in Time prog on Tues night - will be following that one. I'm currently reading "Forgotten Voices of the Edwardians" and it's scaring the knickers off me.
I might be turning into a rabid mob. Red MardGimme a barricade!

I'm going to raise hell about this to my MSP - heating bills are higher here not bloody lower! It gets colder the further north you go - of course maybe they didn't get geography at Eton !0

Those articles make your blood boil.I have not left a comment because it would probably be deleted!
I read one comment about northerners moving south and making the place a den of criminals.
While there may have been some who were lowlifes that moved south most were hard working people who were actually appreciated because they could not get the locals to get out of bed for work!
My dh moved to Sussex in a caravan for work in the late 80's and I eventually joined him. Months later we bought a flat and within weeks the interest started going up. We eventually had it repossed because his wages went from £600 a week to £300 a week and the mortgage went from £500 a month to £900 a month.
We held our heads high because it was not our fault. That recession saw thousands lose their homes in the south because Mrs Thatcher would not lift a finger to help until it was too late.
History is repeating itself but it will be ten times worse.
Thankfully when we bought this place it was the year before the boom so we got it very cheap and have been chipping away at the mortgage to get it paid off quickly.
I feel for my kids. dd's dh has just been made redundant from an engineering firm. For anyone that does not know engineering and steel making is going to China. Its the mills and cheap clothing industry all over again.0 -
In my neck of the woods we have torrential rain and thunder. It's a good job I have the tv on otherwise I wouldn't see my hand in front of my face, it's so dark! Youngest is currently side by side with our dog staring out of the window at the rain.
It's a sad state of affairs at the moment, a new Tesco express (boo hiss) is opening in my town and they had over 1000 applicants for a handfull of jobs in a short space of time. I need to get back to work but there's little around at the moment.0 -
I'm angry. I can't actually say anything else right now, just that I'm livid about those proposals. I don't for one second believe in different treatment for any purpose based upon where you live in this country.
How long has that man and those parties got left in number 10? I want them out - preferably before we implode upon ourselves!0 -
Heating bills are higher here, distances are longer, petrol is dearer, we should get MORE not less. :rotfl: Somebody needs to go on the attack and throw that at the sods.0

I now have steam coming out of my ears!! What are under 25's supposed to do - go and live with their parents  I have DS living here after his last disastrous rented property turned into a mouldy seive. His girlie had been made redundant 2x in 6 months and the last job she took turned out to be totally different than she had applied for. They are in their 30's and both now back home. My DS is wonderful but its not ideal him being here and he needs his own space. Also he has just had to take 6 days unpaid leave as their firm deals with Natwest and the system is still down . He normally works 6 days a week including weekends and has gone in today to work on reception as he doesnt want to be off any longer - a team leader on reception, what a waste.
The North / South divide has never been more obvious has it - 'haves and have not's'. Do you think lethargy will prevail or will people rouse themselves against this government ?
Goodness the weather has been bad here but I would hate Mardatha's fuel bills. I obsessively turn everything off here and consider carefully before I use electric so any cut in benefits would cripple us.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
I was tempted to leave a comment and started to but admit I found I was getting rather angry so deleted it.
I wonder what will happen when if their plans go on and people start dropping like flies and bosses no longer have their cheap workforce. For what we will see is a return of all the bad diseases as people will not be able to pay for gas, electric, water, decent food or a roof over their heads so will become malnourished and pick up disease which will pass like wildfire through the masses and kill of plenty.
This time it will be even worse than in the past as we have no immunity against so many of the diseases that those in earlier times lived with all their lives and they killed of plenty of them.
Many, many firms that basically keep Britian PLC running all pay their bosses massive wages and bonuses and their workers poor wages as they have seen they can do this as the workers could claim HB/CTB/WTC to prop up those poor wages. If all these things are taken away none of those workers will be able to afford to work and even if government say you can only claim for two years then nothing, then nothing it will be as if the wages continue as low as they are now in the main ( and most of the jobs in uk are not that much above the min wage level) then people might take them yes, but as they will not be enough to cover their housing costs, food, power etc then they will as I said become ill.
So if all the costs are made - and as you say MAR its colder up north so people will die off quicker up there from hypothermia and related illness and with NHS funding being cut there will not be enough free care and anyway there won't be anyone to staff any hospitals anyway. I would say Britain PLC has a life span of 10 years from when the full cuts are made - remember even now we have only had around 20% of cuts that will come into force. I do think 10 years is around the mark when there will not be enough healthy or living people to do all the jobs they are doing now. I totally admit I an no economist
I wonder how the PM and his cronies will cope when they have to go without as there will be no one to run shops, power stations, clean their clothes, houses etc.......be an interesting place to live plenty of people with money but nothing to really spend it on as no workers to provide them with any services.........
They bang on and on about how these benefits are being claimed by the work shy layabouts who spend all their time watching flat screen tvs while having numerous children in between smoking, drinking and betting, playing on their x-box or driving their uninsured Rolls Royces or free mobility cars or mustn't forget having a dozen foreign holidays a year yet most of it is claimed by hard working people who are just not paid enough - yes I know there are business out there who are struggling and not paying bosses big salaries but most of the biggest employers are.
I wish I could write a decent computor programme like the one in Wargames ( anyone old enough to remember that movie) in it there was a programme that computed what would happen in all out thermonuclear war and it showed no-one could win. If we could have a programme that showed what would happen if all benefits were removed and wages stayed the same and showed what happened to people as it would in real life and game was put out there maybe just maybe enough people would run it and see what would happen - call it run Britain PLC or run a country in the 21st centuary or some such name.
Can you run the country without paying out benefits?
The aim being to run the country and keep all the population healthy and alive and business running without wages changing from what they are in mid 2012 but not a penny in benefits being paid to anyone except pensioners. Remember this is a modern western world with no land available to the masses as it mainly owned by the rich who are paid to keep it empty by the government so no chance of the poor growing their own food and as most of the population lives in cities and many in flats they cannot even grow in a small garden and even then not big enough to keep them in food. Yes some have allotments but remember if things get desperate they will be raided so those you thought might get food will now starve and be replaced for a short while by those that stole - only a short while as the stealer will not even consider storing food they will just eat what they can sell the rest, which by then will be pretty inedible and so barely give any nourishment and might actually cause illness to those that buy it.
Then you can add options like remove pensioners benefits as well, move all the poor out of London, maybe be able to add workhouses,oh lots of options to see what if anyway would keep the country running. Lets not forget the bank - options of them raising interest rates, charging more for overdrafts, paying the big cheeses even bigger bonuses, mustn't forget a lot of the rich are not paying the correct amount of tax so will you try to go after them to keep things running.
All the worse case senerios that what not just our present for we must remember all this started in the past - labour came up with plenty of cuts and current lot said oh we must continue as we inherited them and then added more so no use saying was better before.
Anyone got any other ideas we could put in the programme???? My head is teaming with ideas oh why did I not take the trouble to keep up with my programming.
OH gosh sun is out wasn't expecting to see that today but sky is still totally over cast so presume next shower not to far away.
Right going to toddle off and have another cuppa, not had one since 5.30am - didn't sleep at all last night and getting to the drunken stage .:rotfl:Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

Don't forget DLA is being scrapped and the replacement is 20% less and harder to obtain. Then we have the bedroom tax being introduced in April for social housing tennants which working or not working means an additional £13 to find per spare bedroom(It's ok to say move)but around here smaller properties are harder to come by(you may as well say they are non existant)now that's money to find if working or not working, whether you get HB or not.
