Hugs to PAH and Popperwell. And Byatt.

My weedkiller spree on the allotment on Monday has had absolutely no effect on any of the weeds. I have no idea what I did wrong. I diluted as per instructions and am sure I used it correctly. I have Superweeds !

GQ best of luck for the morning - after 15 minutes of ab crunching you will probably need a real live nursey to get you out of bed!!
:p It was 15 mins inc ab crunching. I did 30 and it hurt like hell. Never mind Nurse, I'll probably need a blinking block-and-tackle to haul my carcase out of my pit tomorrow.

Weeds laugh at you, you know. Did you have rain after you sprayed, could the weedkiller have been over-diluted? Or......perhaps.........you have TRIFFIDS.:eek::eek:

I'm afraid the best I can offer to peeps at war with the benefits folks is a nice virtual slice of cake. I could barely understand the posts about benefits, let alone make any useful suggestion, so sorry PAH, Popperwell and Byatt. But this cake is carrot and peanut, iced with buttercream.

I remember trying to help mum fill out benefits forms years back and how hard it was, so really feel for anyone going through anything related to that.

Here it's windy and so rainy that the field next door (that our complex drains into) is now a lake. Biggest problem I have is I'm running out of undies since I can't dry laundry (we have too big a mould problem to try and dry indoors) so may be a scarlet woman shortly.

Going to try my luck at a grocery store listing rump at $5 a kilo for today only, if it looks any good I'll stock up. Also the same price for some pork cuts and I quite fancy trying to make char sui, so wish me luck.

    Love to all!

PAH - hope you get some luck with your TC.

We had our renewal notice in today with a "you owe us £1280" bit in it....nice! We've always kept them up to date with every change but they seem incapable of actually putting the correct figures in the correct boxes. The figures they had on the form didn't actually match what we'd given them in the renewal notice.?? Spent ages on the phone trying to sort it and will now wait until they've made more calculations and see what happens. Didn't realise the payments had stopped as I bank with n@tw*st and my account still isn't showing right.

It's a ruddy good job we've got a good store cupoard, some savings and have learnt to live as frugally as possible so as to not rely on this money (it goes into my "savings for yearly one offs/birthdays/Christmas" fund so although that will be short, it doesn't impact on daily living.

Told our DD's (both teens) that belts need to tighten until this mess is sorted and they both agreed to be more economic with the biscuit tin and take shorter showers......well it's a start! :rotfl:

Oh Pooky, its so much harder for you with having children.........its far, far worse for you.

Do you know I am seriously wondering if they are deliberately changing figures people are giving them so they can claw back money in the hope people will not be able to prove what they really had coming in - a lot of people throw bank statements away and there are a lot who if they receive a letter saying you were overpaid will just pay up and never think to query it as its the tax people and you don't argue with them you just pay up and keep quiet........not that it explains why they are asking me for money I supposedly overpaid years ago now instead of the next year, but again many will not be able to prove what they had coming in then and although if they have not kept bank statements they can get them on-line or ask bank to send more lots will not bother, to much hassle, easier just to pay.

Do as I am doing get onto your MP see if he/she will help.......

Byatt that is the worst when you know they are not paying you enough so you have to get more money from elsewhere. GQ is right though you might ( hopefully) be worrying over nothing as even if you get eventually the correct amount you might still be entitled to that level of HB/CTC its not worked on just getting full amount of a certain benefit but on level of income totally, so you income could go up and still be entitled to what you are receiving in HB/CTB........

sorry not sure if that makes sense, mind is going round in circles........

Thank you each and every one of you, your support means so much to me, just knowing there are people who are actually there supporting me in this big wide world is comforting as siblings to this day only want to come to me when they have problems, they get embarrassed if I mention I need help and get off phone double quick. Will see my sisters at weekend at my granddaughters 13th birthday party and if they have any problems in their lives I will hear about them but I will not even bother mentioning mine, they were brought up to believe big sis is there for you not you are there for big sis.......my kids grew up believing mum can handle everything and dad needs looking after, my fault after what mum and dad did with me I made sure they never felt I was anything but their mum who would be there for them so can just get a bit lonely sometimes.

Oh was very lazy before when it came to dinner - lamb cooked in slow cooker was falling to pieces ( hubby doesn't like meat, chicken, vegetables, potatoes if its chewy, must melt in the mouth almost) but just did not feel like making potatoes or veg - so very often I will take my share out before it reaches that stage -I just fancied in a roll ( had bought a few reduced price rolls other day and one pack fitted in freezer but no room for other and they had to be used up) so hubby just got given lamb on rolls with tomato sauce on it and he was quite happy. I haven't felt that hungry so just taken a roll and added the lamb over the evening.......more of a picnic meal but it was filling and tasty, he filled up with last of the fairy cakes I made the other day and I just added the butter icing tonight - easier to put it on when going to eat them than keeping cakes stored in fridge, I just make up a load and put it in a tub in fridge and lasts ages ( or until hubby finds and eats it, kids used to do the same, served to feed their sweet craving but not full of rubbish - apart from the sugar itself) :rotfl:

Dogs then enjoyed the meat juices as didn't add anything to the lamb I find it always has enough of its own juices, same with a beef roast, often I throw the potatoes in there and it all cooks nicely in the juices.

Right as usual go on and on and on - you must have noticed I go quiet for a week or so then yap and yap again, am same in RL so just be glad you don't know me would talk your ear off for days then total silence........:rotfl::rotfl:

I personally think these government departments keep the cash in their pot as long as possible so their figures look good, knowing full well they will still have to pay them out but possibly can short change us all in the process - does that make sense?

Am off to bed now and hoping for sleep, have had a very busy few days, cleaning and sorting carp out. Still tomorrow is another day.

I feel for all of you having trouble with getting money you rightly deserve. I cross my fingers every time we are due a payment in case it doesnt come and the whole Natwest thing sent me on a real wobbly, I thought they had stopped our benefits again. It was only seeing Martins post that gave me some relief :T what would we do without him?

Am sending huge hugs to you PAH,and everyone else.

AM just back in from hospital, DD6 started vomitting earlier and then she broke out in a rash that didnt blanch, called doctor immediately who told me to get straight to hospital. Thankfully they say this time its a gastro thing that has caused blood vessels to rupture and hence the rash. But scary times yet again.

Have to sit up through the night to monitor and check rash doesnt spread - so going to be yet another long night :)

Oh Kidcat, been there done that it scares the life out of you. You have been through so much this year, you deserve a break - do you hear that universe give kidcat and her family some good times please!!!!!!!

Did they do a lumber puncture? I know they can get the results so quickly now - first time I had the scare my daughter was 16 months old and rushed in and it took 3 days to get result by the time she was 16 and had last one it took 45 mins - and that was 20 years ago ( she kept having a bug that mimics meningitis and only time and/or lumber puncture will tell the difference and obviously time is not something you have if it is Meningitis - she used to have it about once a year and each time they had to check just in case and always gave her antibiotics till results came through......

If you will accept it will send healing to her - I always ask for a child, if not will just ask for healing which is slightly different to me anyway or pray or both.......poor little lamb feeling rough then you having to take her to the hospital would be even more scary bet she just wants mummys hugs. Have you any craft job you have been meaning to do like knitting that you could start tonight while watching her and a good audiobook and earphones to keep you awake. I realise you might not get back on tonight so asking for healing for her for now............

One day you will wake up and realise no-one has been ill for a month it will happen, I promise........

Hugs, love and healing plus extra hugs to little one........:A

((((((((((((((Kidcat))))))))))))))))))) Good luck with your vigil. How scary that must have been.

PAH, what a honour to know you through here. I mean that.

Softstuff, from pics my friend has sent, Little Mountain looks lovely. I can't imagine ever going but never say never.
I sometimes name items, though I haven't named clothes. Colin, hey? The writer Deric Longden had a giant roll of clingfilm named Colin - I was thinking of this earlier, as I wished I still had the giant rolls my tenants had left.
I must re-read the book with that story in soon (I'm A Stranger Here Myself, I think). It makes me laugh more than most others, Deric is so funny.
I think of my walking sticks as Poppy and Ali (poppies painted all over one and the other bought in Ald*) but I wouldn't call them that in the hearing of others...
My trike is Rossa and I don't expect anyone to see that as odd but again, he is referred to as 'the trike' rather than Rossa. He is Rossa because he is red and he is most definitely male, being strong and sturdy with tough-guy tyres.

Every car we've ever had in the family has had a name, usually based on the registration or the colour. The latest has LYL in the registration, but it's definitely male so it's Lyle, rather than Lyl as in Lil. The previous car had KEV (Kevin obviously), we also had PUB (Pub or Pubby) and WBR (Wilbur).

We have had female cars, we had one called DeeDee (based on her pale brown colour, it stood for Diluted.. I'll let you guess)
I had a white car with the registration VNL - so she was Vanilla, on both registration and colour counts.
Enough mindless waffle. I have to steel myself to do a Disabled Person's Working Tax Credit form... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... !
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

    !

Opps meant to say thank you cake tastes delicious, its good its virtual as I should not touch cake although its funny I have been same size now for 5 years - dare I say it size 18 and no matter if I eat or not I never gain or lose more than a pound or two. Had a bug about 4 years ago and didn't eat for a month, did I lose anything yes a big fat 5lbs. Doctor reckons its something to with my health problems affecting how body utilizes food but as far as she is concerned as weight is stable and not affecting health ( did have a bit of a scare for a few years getting high but not diabetic high blood sugar readings but last one was way down below normal limit) she is not bothered and I am not to be although at 5ft 3ins and big boned you can imagine as hubby often tells me I am fat.

Before this I was always around a 12/14 and never dieted in my life as was always so active so I can see her point at first I still ate as much as always so weigh crept on and now do eat less but its still enough to maintain not lose.

Finished new Terry Prctchett book and am going to have to reread as don't know if its me not getting it or book doesn't really finish and I cannot stand a book that doesn't have a definite ending, unless of course he is planning a sequel........mmmmmmm now that could be possible another series just like his disc world one, hope so if not be first book I have felt let down by him, its a great book just the ending kind of leaves you hanging, but as I said might just be me so will reread, or relisten.

Oh Hubs asked me earlier what are we doing on my birthday - got a voucher sent to me from a nice bistro we go to from time to time ( well these days maybe once a year) giving me 20% off if I go on my birthday.......its not exactly a cheap place but do lovely food, oldy worldy sort of place so will see basically how I feel on the day.................

I am so glad I bought the tower fan last year its kept me nice all day long with it being so hot and heavy - old one was the round type that was noisy and didn't do that much, this one has the 'breeze' function and I have used it nearly ever day since I bought it thanks to the hot flushes, although not getting them so often now thankfully, but fan sends out a lovely blast of cool air, is so quiet and barely costs to run I luvs it......I don't have it on osculating just tucked in corner of room with it facing my bed and me and locked in place and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm have noticed it actually works like white noise to send me to sleep, on nights I don't have it on I find it harder to sleep so have been known to put it on and pull duvet up around me and hey pesto I sleep.

its lulling me now so hopefully tonight I might get to sleep before 4am which has been the time past 4 nights, ........kidcat am thinking of you m'dear

One thing where is Mad not seen her on here for a few days, hope ME not flaring or her RV driving her so mad shes clocked him one on the noddin..........

see the mad PAH is coming back, I am like tigar is bouncing...........:rotfl:

Back from shopping, but alas no meat. The rump that was on sale turned out to be a whole rump.... yes, you read that right, the entire back end of the damned cow. Not that the size was that offputting, more the amount of fat on it. And if those pork leg roasts really came from pigs I wouldn't like to meet one of those pigs on a dark night.

Glad you like the cake PAH, virtual cake is the only one I can eat now too, but hubby gets through enough of the real stuff for the both of us.

McCulloch, I never planned on visiting Australia either, but now I live here so go figure. Not much works out as planned, but sometimes it does turn out for the best. Good luck with the form.

Kidcat, thinking of you and sending you love and best wishes, hoping she's back to running around soon.
