PAH I agree with everyone else do not take it lying down. They have made so many "mistakes" this past couple of years that this is probably just another one. I wonder how many people they have managed to intimidate into paying back money they actually do not owe.

    Hi Fuddle

My Mr Titchmarsh book says rocket can be sown between March and September and harvested April to November so you look good to go :)

My coop mainly does bargains of bread rolls on a morning. Maybe on an evening would be a better time to go? I'll go look after school today just in case.

It might be worth a look, some of the bargains were astonishing. Best of luck!

Fuddle the rocket should be fine if you sow it now. It's pretty hardy stuff so I think you could probably sow it right up until September. Also, just a suggestion, but could you get a bike? I use my bike like most people use their car and it's amazing how much shopping you can fit into bike panniers.

Good news - I went for my [STRIKE]ritual torture and humiliation[/STRIKE] oops I mean over-40 health check, and in spite of having heart disease in the family (and I mean every relative in the last generation), I have only a 2% risk of having cardio-vascular problems in the next ten years. My blood cholesterol and 'bad' cholesterol levels have both fallen since my last test, and my weight has remained stable for the last four years. I'm still a bit overweight but I guess my body must be more-or-less happy or my weight wouldn't have stayed the same. I am very relieved - because of the high levels of heart disease in my family I have been walking around assuming that I could drop dead of heart attack at any moment. Of course, that's still possible but highly unlikely.

PAH hope you have managed to get in touch with your MP.

I have to go out but it seems such a shame - I have Tessy snuggled up on one side of me and Bruno snoring his doggy head off on the other and I am going to have to wake them up....

Have already done a Lidl shop today. When I got to the checkout, bizarrely a bar of chocolate had ahem found its way into my trolley ....

:) Growing up, what's all that about, then? I thought it was optional. I mean, I hold down a job and pay taxes and can do joined-up handwriting and tie my own laces, so I think I do enough grown-upness and can goof around on my spare time like today.

I went to the pharmacy to [STRIKE]score some drugs[/STRIKE] drop off my prescription and then to the Magic Greengrocer where my £1 got me 3 half-cucumbers, 6 banana, 5 small oranges and 5 apples and a pear. I left the partridge behind as there was no room in my bag.

I have also screwed my brass neck in place and gone to the spit-and-sawdust gym that I used to frequent many moons ago and have arranged to use it on a walk-up basis. No membership. It's pretty basic but it's about 1 minute from the flat. I shall cram my lardy bits into something with Lycra this afternoon and go re-acquaint myself with rowing machines, steppers and fings wiv chunks of steel on them. Not sure how this will pan out as I have ME and various other probs which mean I'm not too fab most of the time, so I don't want to buy a membership and find I can't use it.

Bit nervous about taking my flabby and unfit self in but needs must. I'm losing strength as I head towards the menopause and need to do something to negate the effects of a sedentary job. Plus I'd like to be able to walk up stairs without puffing like a train............:rotfl:If I don't reappear this evening, be worried.

GQ:- Good for you, well done for making a stand. Also you are making me feel guilty because i have not resumed my Aqua Aerobics since the Physio declared my neck 'as good as it was going to get'. :(

PAH:- I feel very angry for you, and fairly useless as well. I don't understand the tax credit system. If they have had all the right information how can they have made a mistake?!! :wall: Beggers belief ...these people are running the country!!

Have just come back from A*di. I have found that if I go about 10am I get lots of reductions. All of their reductions are 50% stickers. So pack of buns and loaves of bread for 25p each. Even better cooked meats, sausages and chops, all with 50% stickers. I have not bought full priced bread for a few weeks now. It all goes in the freezer anyway where ever I buy it from. Even got a whole Guinea Fowl last week on 50% reduction...£2.50. Am a very happy bunny, just got to work out when they reduce their chocolate!:EasterBun

GQ, I'd open a window, pretend I'm playing "domino rally" and give one of their windows a shove. But then I'm not the most reasonable person as regards intrusions into my personal space. I totally agree with what you say about flat dwelling though, whether it's strangers tramping over my balcony, people parking in irritating places or tradesmen treating the place as though it's an open and vacant hotel... it all gets me a little bit angry.

Softstuff I was going to suggest the same! Or there is the softly approach, offer them a cup of tea...:D;)

Just started the marathon task of talking to the DWP, I've put it off and put it off, my stomach was actually churning when I called. The usual hanging around until someone answers, and the usual thing that that person isn't able to answer my questions but needs to pass them on to another section(which I thought I was talking to) and they will ring me back anytime between now and 3pm!! Not holding my breath and who wants to place bets that they haven't received my letter!!

Hello everyone and ((hugs)) to all in need, especially PAH - what a nightmare tax credits are! I have never understood the calculations they use, they make no sense at all to me - so like most people we rely on HMRC to get it right. I really hope you can get some advice and get your MP to speak up about this, it's disgraceful that they can come back after all this time and expect you to pay up straight away.

Well, I've (almost) got a day to myself today. I booked a day off for DD sports day and now that's over with I have a couple of hours at home with little DD before school pickup. So not really a day "to myself" alone, but it beats being at the coalface.

DH's work troubles continue - won't bore you with all the details but he is going to be made redundant at the end of July. I am sure the company are getting it all wrong, and I think we are going to have to see a solicitor about it. I've posted on the redundancy MSE board to see if anyone can advise, but think we are going to have to bite the bullet and pay someone to help us. Slightly scared about the cost, but it may be money well spent if it means that DH gets the redundancy pay I think he is entitled to. I've researched all I can on the internet and I think I understand what should be happening, but I'd like to be sure before I put outraged pen to paper...!

Changing the subject completely and on to more lighthearted things - I'm glad we aren't the only family with names for everything. For example, all remote controls are called Ramon in our house... Not sure why, it's just always been that way!

    Have good days all

    Evie xx

PS Really enjoyed the Edwardian house programme on BBC1 last night :)
