GQ, I'd open a window, pretend I'm playing "domino rally" and give one of their windows a shove. But then I'm not the most reasonable person as regards intrusions into my personal space. I totally agree with what you say about flat dwelling though, whether it's strangers tramping over my balcony, people parking in irritating places or tradesmen treating the place as though it's an open and vacant hotel... it all gets me a little bit angry.

:) I've just rung the company concerned and the contracts manager is going to call me back. The caller-taker didn't think it acceptable that they're leaning their windows on my windows, either.

I'm not in the business of making life difficult for working men but there has to be a bit of common sense execised here. I asked them nicely 45 minutes ago, and they have added more stuff inc stretching stuff across my window since then. Heaven knows, we don't have much daylight anyway and on an already-overcast day I don't need any more of my light blocked. I did have the window open (very stuffy and humid today) but have closed it as I don't feel comfortable with strange men just on the other side of it, now do I want to be listening to every word.

Softstuff, tempting tho window domino-ing is as a concept, I couldn't do it here as the windows open inwards!

I had a quick call from the job manager who isn't happy that they're doing this and is going to get the site supervisor around to see me. Better tidy up, then!

ETA just had the site boss around and he has told the fitters no leaning stuff on my walls or windows and that they are to finish the assemblages they're working on within an hour and no more. Result!

Oh I wouldn't like that at all GQ Home is home, no matter who owns it - crikey if someone was leaning their building stuff against my window I'd do the same! Result, although the daft workmen - they could have easily avoided that (rolleyes)

Ok, help me out here nursey? Is she GQ's alter ego or some skivvy kept in the cupboard? :rotfl:

Coop trip today for basics. I detest the Coop's prices :( but I'm not doing the six miler for some onions and potatoes - I'm fond of treat but that's pushing my enthusiasm to just plain crazy :D

Corned beef and potato pie for tea tonight.. and DH be home :D I had all the girls in my bed last night and slept like a dream. I don't know why I feel braver with some kids around me

Hehe, both. At least that's what I've always assumed.... if GQ is really keeping a belligerent nurse who makes decent tea in her broom cupboard I'd be a touch surprised. But only a touch.

Good result there with the site manager though, you must have put your sternest voice on when you were on the phone GQ. Shame not to play domino rally.

Are there no good reductions at your local Co-op Fuddle? I had fun at my mothers local co-op when I was over.... large punnets of soft fruit for 60p reduced, 4 salmon fillets for 1.50, stir fry noodles for 40p. It was a regular fun outing for me. Reminds me, the girl who works in the complex where I live found out I'd just got back from England and said dreamily how she'd love to visit Europe.... I'm not sure the kind of trip I had for the most part is what she has in mind.

:) Nurse (or Nursie) is a gag I invented a few months ago who pops up from time to time on the thread.

She's a figment of my overactive imagination. School reports from me always mentioned my vivid imagination which I think is TeacherSpeak for "Uh-oh we've got a right one here!"

Nurse makes my tea. Sometimes. I imagine her as a cross between Attila the Hun and Nurse Glady Emmanuel from Open All Hours. She has a home of sorts at Shoebox Towers (hog-tied in the broom cupboard). She's an absolute tyrant and has taken on a life of her own, even to the point where she "visited" with SDG for a while and had some adventures..........:rotfl:

My household also includes Gollum the Slowcooker (so-named because he is precious) and Henri D'Vac, my Numatic Henry vacuum cleaner.

:o:p:D So that's the explanation for that. I am not really bonkers, just slightly eccentric.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

(Actually, I have just re-read this post and it is obvious that I am bonkers). Never mind, a few cracks help to let in the light!

Love it GQ Love it :D Also, I love a few cracks let in the light, I'll store that one for future use.

My mum called her car Bessie for some reason, I don't name anything... maybe it's to do with the easy come easy go culture I grew up in?

My coop mainly does bargains of bread rolls on a morning. Maybe on an evening would be a better time to go? I'll go look after school today just in case.

    Morning Everyone :)

DS1 has just emerged blinking into the light before midday, it's a miracle lol.

PAH I am so angry on your behalf. How can the woman on the phone say that when she has no idea who you are, why you are calling and if you are entitled to the money or not? I'd fight it tooth and nail and would only give them a penny when they have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that you owe it and even then I would give them the absolute minimum.
We are behind you all the way......Go get them!

GQ Well done on sorting the window fitters out. :T They have some blooming cheek. Nursey had a lovely visit with me, although I'm still trying to work out how to fix the cleaver marks she left in the walls. I told DS1 and DS2 that letting her play Skyrim was a mistake, but teenage boys don't listen, and I'm sure the neighbour will get over what she called him eventually. I do agree with him that a lady of her age and stature shouldn't be using language like that, but thankfully he didn't fully understand her. Here's hoping he doesn't google what N'wah means.

Life in the SDG household is blundering on as normal. I did mow the lawn yesterday and I'm hoping that none of the neighbours were listening to the comments I came out with after mowing over a pile of cat poo :mad::mad: The mower went back in the shed after that and DH can deal with the front lawn at some point.
I have an e-voucher for £20 off an ocado shop and I'm trying to decide if I should use it or not. I don't actually need that much shopping for next week (Although I say that all the time and come out of the supermarket with a trolley full). I could do a stock up shop, but I have nowhere to put the stuff, the offers aren't that good at the moment and it would have to be delivered on Friday as we are away all weekend.
I think I'm better off using the £6 off a £40 spend voucher I have for Tesco.
Today I have to go shopping at some point for wrapping paper and more hayfever meds as DS1 is suffering at the moment. I'm hoping to meet up with a friend to do it, but she doesn't know when she will be free.

Ok, time to do something useful.....sometimes I really don't want to be a grown up :(

    Take care xxxx

Morning all. PAH I read with interest your problem with TC and agree that you should try to get your MP involved. Here in Scotland I think they have a summer vacation so letters may lie for weeks unopened. Would you be able to get to his consulting rooms just now?

Surely there is a lower legal level of income that you push you into “poverty” if you repaid a lot every week/month and maybe a post on the disability forum could help. Try to be positive, I know its difficult, but they can’t and don’t win all the time. If you’ve kept all that paperwork and sure of your figures do not give in, you have many virtual pals here in this forum to chat with.

Thanks to all you post on here and make me giggle especially GQ who I am surprised does not have her own blog but then again her life is so busy with Nursie and Millie.

It’s a miserable grey day, hope the sun is shining elsewhere.

    Morning all,

I for one love your eccentricity GQ - your posts always make me smile.

And heaven knows I need a smile this morning. Was supposed to be at the disabled living centre for a car seat assessment for DD this morning but had to cancel as had both kids awake half the night up-chucking! Also had to cancel DS's appointment for jabs and DD's hydro for tomorrow. They both seem a bit better this morning so fingers crossed! Just got to deal with the large pile of washing created last night - think the heating is going to have to go on as it can't go out in this weather - if anyone has the yellow ball please send it my way - pretty please!

((((PAH)))) Hope you manage to sort it - don't be fobbed off!

Rocket? Gardening peeps.. is it too late to sow rocket? I have found a pack from last year but the numpty I am, I've ripped the top off so can't see when to sow (what a stupid place to put that info anyway)

I've a small strip of soil going along the side of the drive. It's destined for alpine strawberries for useful groundcover but until then will the rocket plan work?
