I just use the first finger of right hand as if it was a crochet hook, simple and easy to to. Obviously you need either a thicker yarn or a few strands together unless you want it very holey err lacy fabric:rotfl: I do find is easier on hands and can continue long after I would have to stop either knitting or crocheting using tools.

I have taken some photos of my pantry and stores cupboard ( a bookcase). Cannot get a full good shot of pantry due to the angle. As you can see it needs tidying asap and my stock of tinned and dried food is not much and toiletries are almost gone - at one stage not only that shelf plus one below and floor were full ( shelf above holds my cupboard with essential oils in - a really solid and heavy medicine chest from charity shop that cost £5)
GQ you will see we are in serious need of FB pies and tinned tomatoes - although do have some in kitchen cupboards plus other tins but all this would not last us more than a few weeks tops if freezer packed in, got to get some stocks in asap but when ever I plan it these days something else always happens

Mar - definatly HIS FAULT. Typical male lack of important communication!
PAH - I have cupboard envy.
I have a lovely big understairs cupboard which I use but it is very low on stock at the moment. I need to spend a serious amount to get it back up to scratch!0 -
So many tins!! It's going to take me an awfully long time to collect a store like that. I do have half dozen tins of fruit though so will go fish that out, plus my toilet rolls and two bars of soap. Top shelp toiletries and cleaning, second food stuffs.
Mar, definitely his fault! Had that happen to me too. I also was once nearly poisoned to death. DH decided to put milton sterilising fluid in the water container and put it back in the fridge. I pour myself a drink and what did I pour and taste (didn't swallow thank gawd)? Yup, stupid man. It was my fault though, uhuh, I should have known0 -
Mardatha ouch! Your RV is lucky you didn't try to blunt the knife again - on him!!
My store cupboard is being run down at a rapid rate by lodger-boy. He's 6ft 4 and built to match - a 2kg bag of porridge oats lasts less than a fortnight .
Today has been a mixed day. Bruno rolled in a dead duck (thanks, Bruno!) whilst I shrieked like a banshee at him :rotfl:. On the plus side, I have hoovered the entire house, done all the recycling and mopped the kitchen and bathroom floors. I've also done all the dishes, including the ones lodger-boy left before he went away for the Bank Holiday weekend . He has just come home now but has a friend with him, so I will wait until tomorrow before I tackle him. Oh, and I sowed some courgette and pumpkin seeds. I know it's late, but perhaps they will catch up and crop later in the season.
I popped by my allotment. Oh heavens, it is covered with weeds and they are almost 5ft high. I read somewhere that vinegar is a good weedkiller, so the next dry day we get (won't be for a while, I think) I will be heading down there with several bottles of malt vinegar and a pressure sprayer. If that fails, I will have to buy some glyphosphate or whatever it's called. I don't really want to use chemicals but there's no way I will be able to hand weed all that. Unless of course Greyqueen would like a little excursion north ....
Right, I'm off to indulge myself with a glass of wine and to see if I can find the Jubilee edition of Superscrimpers on the catch-up service.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Love seeing people's cupboards and what they have in them! PAH, great idea with the plastic drawers.
I'm not sure I can use my under the stairs cupboard for food, it's very damp under there, smells musty and wood gets mould on it...think I will have to use the bedroom and plastic boxes.
Mardy, are your fingers ok??0 -
Fuddle - dont worry a decent store takes a while, mine has been two or three years in the making. I now have a really good size cupboard full and kitchen cabinets are all fully stocked. My one big tip (picked up from here) is to keep a stock list taped inside the cupboard door that way you will always know what is there even if its stuck way at the back.
Mardatha - definitely his fault, what business does any man have messing with a womans knives - would never happen here, OH would not have a clue how.
PAH - lovely pics.
Been a lovely day here, I took youngest two to a picnic at local museum, waterfront location, with the group who run activities locally for autistic kids. My friend fell ill so I also took her son too, so had two 8 year old autys and DD6. Surprisingly I managed to keep them all under control and even managed the exhibition in the laboratory.
It did occur that if I can manage three kids, two of which were SN why cant school manage?
Am now exhausted, but worth it. Weather was ok too but its the only day this week thats is not predicted to rain. So tomorrow am playing safe and heading to the Lego exhibit. Will hit the aquarium Weds and am hoping to fit in the cinema on Thurs.
OH has yet another sick note which I will have to drop off on Weds, but can do that on the way out anyway.
Have no shopping planned as am trying to show OH that his not working has an impact on what is available for him to eat. Not sure it will work but as nothing else has its my last ditch attempt.0 -
Mardy ~ It's his fault, any changes to the status of potentially sharp objects needs to be communicated!
Kidcat ~ My youngest son has autism, and I have found that schools and different teachers within the same school vary enormously in their ability to accomodate and teach children on the spectrum.
Feeling slightly silly posting about my day, as I'm new and why should you be interested in my allotment and life but.....had a good afternoon at my allotment:) I stuck it out through a spell of rain and a hail shower ( which got rid of my two teen helpers) Put in the mange tout plants I bought at a roadside stall last week, weeded my potatoes and broad beans and went on a lovely tour of my friend's allotment. He's a very friendly spry older Irish man who was widdowed a couple of years ago and likes to keep himself busy by helping everyone.....he's done some of my hard digging and gave me two big courgette plants today, I must bake him something for next week.
Came home and made some rather leathery gluten free pastry, but on top of left over chicken and veg made a reasonable pie. And now I'm slumping over the computer and am wondering just how hard it would be to learn how to crochet....0 -
It's not too hard LilySue and well worth it... when you have learned it, you can use crochet to soothe and relax you while watching telly or sitting in the garden on lovely summer days (haha)!
I recommend you tube tutorials, some of them are very good... try one that uses two different colour yarns to show you what's going on.
I love hearing about people's days by the way, especially lottie/gardening or crafting. Keep it coming!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.

Mardatha, of course it's his stupid fault, how could it not be? Now, what we need to figure out is just how much mileage can be milked out of this most terribly grievous injury. Must be good for a wee lie-down on the sofa with a huge bag of sweeties at the very least0
