Both very good suggestions, but I think I'll go for the porridge with golden syrup as it's quickest! :rotfl:

Have to be quick as I'm watching The Killing on Channel 4!

Kidcat how did the assessment go for your ds?

Hobsons Choice - I have osteoarthritis and i'm 29, its a nightmare, they'll basically say to him lose weight, rest and do a small amount of exercise. With all the rain my joints are doing me in so back to the gp i go. He'll probably have to have an mri to check if it arthritis or something else, it takes about 30 mins to do in total. The consultants basically said i need full knee replacements but they won't let me have the ops as i'm too young. So just have to hobble about and deal with the pain :(.

PP thats awful about the car, don't give up on taking him to trading standards!
lovely reading about the wool blanket, how amazing it was greyqueen's handy too :)

    (((hugs ))) ginnyknit.

I still haven't caught up with the thread, so i'm putting a marker on. I wILL cartch up!!

Well we've had quite a busy couple of weeks, had plenty of work in but slowed down now to a stop. But its all good.

We've started on the kitchen! Soon i will my passage back, oh yes! But i couldn't buy any gas for the camping stove so its been a.l.a takeaway for a few days. I don't have a mircowave, slowcooker, grill etc Couldn't make any bread due to brick and plaster dust everywhere. But its all good, can't wait till its done.
Only two years to get started :rotfl:

On other news i'm having to do the same thing as you now kidcat, was told by the school that due to budget cuts the help my son receives will be halved. So i've been advised to apply for him to be statemented. Something i really didn't want to do, i hate labels but needs must. I must admit thought the SENco and learning coordinator are fantastic and have been given him so much help, and i know that they've been taken him for extra lessons and working with beyond they budgeted hours.
So i may be picking your brains chick for extra info.

I know one thing i'm sick of the rain, i swear i have a swimming pool out the back. Been having to lay towels at the back door as its pouring through, luckily i'm on the highest point of the street, feel sorry for those at the bottom

I need sleep, i'm in agony, badly need painkillers and chocolate.

    And it's raining

I am going to do 20 minutes exercise - cos I feel like a bloater and then a soak in the bath with my trashy novel (or my building magazine, but that's work so probably not)
Then I am going to dust and tidy - cos it's been a fortnight and I'll have to adopt GQ's signature
I might cut out my skirt pattern
I might watch Britain's Got Talent - as I have no taste :p
I am going to sew some peas and some runner beans - I know it's late but it was about this time last year i did them and they were ok
I am going to watch DD give the performance of her life in her GCSE drama exam
    I might do some cooking

Hmm - I don't think my day off has enough hours, especially if I sit here any longer.:rotfl:
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Here's one for all you 'tougher' fans...the other week I got married, and the day before the service my wife got told she was being made redundant in June! As you can imagine it put a bit of a damper on things but we decided not to tell anyone and she's been pretty positive about it.

Luckily my salary is enough to keep us both indefinitely, and we are both frugal and live below our means - MSE is a real boon in these times!

so glad you were in a position to weather it so it didn't ruin everything. Hope she gets a job soon
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

AA, congratulations on your wedding and hope your wife's news didn't spoil it for you both too much.

Rain, rain here again. Taking pooch to vet to find out if she has cushings disease. Asked a question on the pet forum and someone suggested it might be that. She needs a check up anyway as she's coming up in lumps and new skin cancers all over the place. She's fine in herself other than wanting to drink all the time and weeing.

DD told me she had made breakfast in bed for her dad. I don't believe she has ever done that for me. Felt a little hurt. Need to get over it.

Austin Allegro, congrats and 'Ooops' Well theres always a suprise when a wedding is involved, at leat its not the patter of tiny feet - yet?

Almost cried in the greenhouse today, non- productive is not the word. Yet again this year is a washout. thank goodness I planted some nice spuds and shallots, surely they will survive  Will have to plant more peas and put them on the ruddy windowsill in the kitchen. i swear I need a gun for the mice and slugs.

I have been throwing money away :eek: my Mr A receipts have been going in the bin without checking them - But no more, just printed off £1.28 in vouchers - every penny pinched etc

Hugs to all in need x

Some of you may remember I was going on a trip by myself to Korea and Japan a few months ago at the age of 60+. You were all very encouraging and made me a lot more confident. Someone (cant remember who) said most of the couples I met would be envious of me being alone and not with 'a significant other' .
Sooo much happened there but I just want to share with you the fact that I did it. As I was saying goodbye to my son I had to fight back the tears and look away but once I was on my own I coped and enjoyed all that was there to see and experience. I had booked a mix of hotels and hostels and the hostels were the best. This was because in the evenings instead of being cooped up in a hotel room there was a communal room where I met people. Yes they were mainly young folks who were great but I also met a significant minority of oldies like myself - mostly... (yes you've guessed) women!
Being self reliant and having to mime a lot (no language)really improved my confidence. Its a bit hard coming back to normal but I want to encourage anyone my age to push out the boat and use all those great resources we all have hidden in our depths. It sometimes feels that after bringing up children, slaving over cookers and iron boards and working a job our essence is lost but IT ISN'T. x

Catbells! I've been thinking of you often and I know others have been waiting to hear your travel tales. It sounds wonderful, and you are so motivating. Please relate any stories you have and feel comfortable to share, or PM me!! Well done, I am in awe. :T:T:T
