Going to see if I can catch the GP before w*rk or if not book an appt for afterwards. Fingers crossed!

Doesn't your surgery allow you to book on-line. I just made an appointment for 4.30pm which I thankfully could do on-line. Did try and phone first of all but as usual constantly engaged from when surgery opened at 9am so thought I would check on-line on off chance they did have any appointments for today and was amazed to see they have 8 Drs on today and all had lots of free appointments, although the doctor I wanted to see, who I think and obviously others just had two at 4.30 and 4.40pm. They must now be putting all the appointments on-line, it used to only be so many each week. I know our surgery was one of the first to use the on-line appointments and repeat prescription service as its number 27, and does save so much time redialling, I love it. The repeat prescriptions being able to be done on-line is great, I fill in what I want, state which chemist will collect it and two days afterwards just pick it up from there, no need to go near doctors. Just realised today that I had not had a repeat of my pain meds since 31st Oct, and am only given 28 days supply. I know I try and take the least amount to get through each day, but I think I see why pain levels have been higher lately as taken even less than I usually do, I keep telling myself I can last a bit longer as hate having to take them at all, and still have enough to do me another few days, but will ask for more today and that then will do me till the New Year which is great, don't have to worry then about running out over the holidays.

Hope you got through and got an appointment, hope you are ok:)

Marking wouldn't be your least favourite activity at the moment would it now go on admit it you really love it, that feeling of power when you mark things as wrong :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Marking is the work of the devil - it really is. He comes and taps you on the shoulder and tells you of all the other things you could do instead - tidying, knitting, cleaning out the gutters, polishing shoes - anything to avoid it. If anyone remembers what revision is like - marking is worse!

Love all those smilies though - in my quote thingy they look like they are doing a little dance!

Please forgive me god of OS, for i am about to sin and use the tumble drier WHEN I DON'T REALLY NEED TO  But having stripped beds that the in laws have been using I really can't be [STRIKE]ars[/STRIKE] bothered with the hanging out, so in the tumbler they are going. I am going to walk into town though, instead of driving, so that will make up for it a bit and work off some calories before i'm out to lunch.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all!

Cold and frosty here this morning when I took little dog out, brrr but I have broken out the snuggle blanket (cheap copy of) that I got for £3 from a boot sale! Oh my it is so warm and cosy, can't think why the girl was selling it? only problem comes when I want to get up to put kettle on so I am wearing it back to front and look like an extra from a Harry Potter movie!:rotfl:

I am stuck in today (well until my dental app this afternoon, bet they try to deliver it then!) awaiting my approved food order - with another 10 tins of sardines, then I can play food poker with 24 of them! They stack up neatly and take up little room, are very good for you and cheap, though not as cheap as they used to be. Can't remember what else is coming in the order:o but as I am now on a wheat avoidance diet it was bound to be something gluten free!

I have some gluten free flour to play with, a bag or rice flour and 1 of gram (chickpea) plus a bag of normal gluten free (maize I think). I now need to experiment with pastry making - this could end badly! Pastry making was never my forte and now I can't use normal flour! Argggg!:( Hoping to make my Grandmothers wartime recipe up which was a fav with the kids over the years, a bit like a bakewell but not quite! The pastry doesn't have to be perfect thank goodness! If anyone wants the recipe I can type it up for you.

Hope those of you with snow are coping and managing to keep warm. Thanks to this thread most of us have stocked up and prepped. Loving the expression "tinned up" btw :rotfl:

gardenia English onions tend to be stronger than Spanish or Dutch ones.

Thanks - I didn't know that. I still have so much to learn *sighs & shakes head*

I like the sound of growing winter squash - I have biiiig plans for my currently very scruffy garden & am thinking about getting rid of the lawn (= patch of scrubland) & replacing it with some raised beds & veggie plots. I also want to replace the rotting fences with a small wall & then put smaller fences on top on that wall so they dont rot, & move the patio (= slabs that appear to have been thrown onto the ground at random) to the sunnier end of ths garden which is East facing. However money is tight :rotfl: so it may not happen for another decade!

My white roses flowering next to my winter flowering jasmine look beautiful this cold morning, but it is a bit odd seeing them flower together.

My fish curry was yummy but has had some gas producing after effects (must be all that fenugreek). I normally chuck a can of beans into most dishes in the SC to bulk them out but I definitely wont in this case lest I take off! It didn't look very appetizing as the coconut milk had separated & looked a bit "curdled", so along with the tumeric & chunks of white fish.... I wouldn't want to serve it up to friends :D

Anyone know how to stop coconut milk separating? The recipie said to bring to the boil then simmer it on the hob for 15 mins along with sliced onions (more tears!) & spices, then bung in the SC for 3 hours on high. If I'm just cooking on the hob then I usually add the milk quite late & don't boil it, so it never separates & looks like vomit!

Prepareathome - that tart sounds lovely & I may have a go next week. I am on a mission to run down the freezer so I can deal with the ice monster within, so it will be an odd week meal wise!

GQ - great news on the BM - I love mine & you still get the lovely smell of bread (which then makes me eat it!). I have a timer on mine, so could wake up to fresh bread but I tried it once & the mixing part kept waking me up as I'm such a light sleeper! Never thought of reusing tights in the freezer - that is inspired thinking! :T I would love to be able to slide clothes along a wardobe rail - I do declutter evry now & then but they seem to reproduce the moment my back is turned. Using the "random reproducing tins rule" does however explain why none of my clothes go together :rotfl:

    Made me laugh out loud!

Hope everyone keeps warm today - blessed with sunshine here now, no sign of frost but I was very cold when I woke for my early morning batroom visit. So nice to get back into bed for a bit longer!
And I find that looking back at you gives a better view, a better view...

Morning all, wondering if anyone has any ideas, my youngest daughter is in the box room which is really cold, the house is double glazed and insulated but her bedroom is above the front door where there is no heat and therefore no heat rises ino her room.

I have put a fleece under her cot sheet and put her in a sleeping bag as she wriggles and gets out of the covers otherwise. I have the heating on 40mins on a morning and 40 mins on an evening. Last night I ran an electric heater on the landing in the hope that some of the heat would go under her door as couldn't leave it open as the noise of the heater would wake her but all that happened was my eldest kicked her covers off as she was too hot and it didn't help with the youngests room.

Last year when it got really cold I had the heating booting up around 3 in the morning for half an hour but at the moment everyone else in the house is not cold through the night. last night when I went in her room at 10 the thermometer stated the room was bordering on too cold and this morning her room was freezing.

I am out of ideas, I put an extra cover over when I go to bed but this comes off anyway, the heater is too noisy to put in her room and obviously I can't burn candles in there.

    So please anyone any ideas??

an oil filled radiator is silent in use and could be put on a timer to boost the temperature for a bit without having to heat the whole upstairs. They are not very expensive - have a look in Argos or Screwfix
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

snow on the ground, compact hard. Kids feet freezing in wellies and smallest one fell and got snow down her wellies which resulted in wet tights. So stressed and frustrated! Sometimes it doesn't matter how hard I try, it's never good enough.

The heating is on and making me worry every time I hear the boiler come on.

DH is at a job interview today. We're hoping that he gets it because it comes with a van. It would mean we didn't need to worry about the upkeep of the car or affording petrol to get him to work. Positive vibes my way if you could be so good.

Really on edge today, feel a bit panicky. I need to calm myself down :(
