Reminded me of the crushing put-down a pal once delivered to a bloke who was groping her; "I wouldn't touch your private parts if I had Marigolds on!" He removed his paws from her person so fast you'd've thought she was burning and avoided her like the plague forever after. I guess pretty little blonde women need a few good lines if they get that kinda mauling on a regular basis.
It's not just pretty little blonde women who need them from time to time. Even the most tired and wizened old hags could use one or two now and then. Some men are opportunists of the most insulting kind and others just need to be drunk/brave enough to try it on. I know this from experience.
Good call to whoever mentioned Kathy Lette. Her books should be available to all women via the NHS imo.

Right then how can I explain it simpler.
Basically any pc from last 15 years can run broadband. Earlier one will not have the connections built in for wireless and most likely Ethernet.
GQs will/should have the Ethernet port - it looks similar to a port where you would plug in your phone wire, but is bigger. If no Ethernet port then easiest option is to have wireless broadband as you can pick up up a wireless dongle fairly cheaply.
So this is first thing you have to consider
To use broadband you need broadband switched on at your exchange.
You have to decide whether you want wireless or ethernet ( a cable)
So you need to know where the phone box ( where your phone comes into the house) is and where your pc is
If in same room and room not to big then Ethernet is fine - if you have the port ( and its quicker than wireless). You can buy Ethernet cables in different sizes but they are not that cheap.
If your phone box is in a different room to pc then wireless will most likely be best option.
Hope this helps, sorry last one seemed to involved, I tried to make it simple but obviously didn't.......sorry if I sounded patronising, its like when teaching something to someone who knows nothing about a subject you have to keep remembering that once you were like them and keep it simple and don't assume anything, but I forgot this time really am sorry.
Anyone any ideas what I can make for evening meal, am having one of those blank days - I have yet still to meal plan properly, what I do is I make my list as if meal planning, buy everything for meals I know I will make but not actually written one out or stuck to it........so got plenty in so can make most things - although we don't eat pork, bacon, ham or gammon, I just loathe the taste, annoying as usually plenty of these in reduced items and so cheap - yesterday Mr S had packs of bacon in reduced for 50p oh how I wish I could like it. They also had 500g packs of pork mince for 30p, yet lamb, beef etc was only reduced by a third at most, sometimes less. So I have lamb, beef, chicken, mince - both beef and lamb ( separate not mixed), sausages, cod, haddock, eggs, cheese now I know I have some edam that needs using up any ideas to include that. I just cannot think - spoilt for choice, and am I thankful.

I use Linux. My ancient PC can run Windows XP but at a judderingly slow pace. Linux is a lot smaller so runs faster, so I have both installed now. I only really browse and use simple office software most of the time, so I use Linux, and I only use Windows if it's something Linux can't run. I highly recommend looking into it to anyone who uses older computers. It's best to start with one of the 'builds' that other people put together for you (I use Ubuntu) and get to know that, then learn other bits as and when you need to. It's nowhere near as complicated as most techies make out! I have also found that Linux techies as a rule tend to be arrogant, unhelpful and plain rude at times, but people on the techie board here do seem to be a lot friendlier than that.0 -

Please be assured that you have absolutely no reason whatsoever to be envious of my darling little Mac. It's a clunky old iMac which was second-hand when I got it for £265 (I know this as the price-sticker is still on it) about 7 or 8 years ago. It only has a 1-gig hard-drive and recently it's been running out of disc-space after only about 2 hours of surfing. I keep having to reboot the ruddy thing.
A pal has very kindly offered me a "spare" and unused lap-top PC but I'm wary of taking it as I'm used to the Mac now. Gift-horse, mouth etcetera. I'm secretly hoping that the pal of mine who found this Mac might be able to find another more powerful second-hand one. No spendies available so it would have to be cheap. I've been toying with the idea of an additional external drive to act as "go faster" stripes but I'd need a second-hand one of those, too.0 -
How about cod or haddock mornay? You could use the edam if you like. Here's a couple of versions to give you the idea

I'm going to teach myself, I taught myself other languages, and worked on systems and programming for a living so I got to a pretty useful standard; just starting out with linux after promising myself to do it for ages, lots of freebie guides available; I hate microsXXt with a passion! I'd love to be rid of them as much as poss...
