We have snow - it was due from 9pm to about 2am here and just looked out and there is a covering and still falling - not big fluffy flakes but still enough to cover and form an "accumulation" which seems to be the BBC's favourite way to describe anything from 1cm to 1 metre of the stuff :rotfl:Talk about hedging your bets! So East Anglia can tick the winter box now :rotfl: When we had lots of snow last winter some larger than lifesize and very rude snowpersons appeared on a bench set in front of a pub in the village - wonder what will happen this time?
Both pets are in - feline is the type to sit by the catflap until you open it for her. Pup has never seen snow - just wait for bedtime & last trip to the garden"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -

I did a lot of research last year on storage boxes & this was the cheapest I found then & their service was very good too.
We have snow too, only an inch or so, but it's enough.

Us too! We've been out throwing snowballs for the dogs, they LOVE it!
I also went out in my pjs to make sure the birdies had food and fresh water. They seem to appreciate it and have some good photos for my blog. :j0 -

Big big trouble!
From what I understand, if they do this then inflation is likely to rise by quite a large amount, think it's called quantative easing? The money we have won't be worth as much as it should be and prices will rise as a result.
There's a great picture of a child during the depression in America, they had a wheelbarrow full of bank notes. It was a large amount of money but due to the huge inflation of prices, was not enough to purchase even a loaf of bread, hence the kids were playing with it as toy money.

Wow, clever OH! It looks like he may have fixed the washing machine! :jThere was all manner of very old socks, and £1.10, stuck fast behind bits of the drum. So ladies, it's true, washing machines officially DO eat socks
The machine is currently completely disassembled, I'm now just hoping it all goes back together again as it looks enormously complicated. Still, what he costs us in food bills (big appetite!) I can now forgive as he's saved me a new machine
Well, here on the south coast the snow has arrived and settledI know others love it but I'm not a fan. Was meant to be helping Moved-In-Friend buy a suit and shirts for his new job today, but doubt my car will make it safely down the hill so it means being stuck inside. I'm sure the main roads will be OK, but getting to them will be an issue so I'm also worried about getting to my job interview tomorrow which is over an hour away.
We mostly have enough food etc so don't need to worry about that, although the local shop is only a very short walk away and OH has volunteered to go if needed. Friend was out last night and is staying with another friend, which means he is stuck up an even bigger hill! We may have to go get supplies for Dolly Cat if he can't make it back.
Hope everyone has a good SundayProud to be a moneysaver0 -

Something not dissimilar happened in Germany, too. My great-grandparents sold their farmhouse and all the land right in the middle of the worst inflation in recent history. That land is all developed now in what became a very fancy sea-side resort on the Baltic coast. Worth millions and millions now but the house is still standing. When we visit we stare wistfully through the gates at it and imagine "what if?" The real "what if" is that if it hadn't been sold my mother would never have been compelled to come to the UK in 1946 as a 17 year-old to work and support her family back home and would therefore never have met my father.
My father's side of the family lost their retail business during the same period and my Granddad became a dealer in second-hand clothes to make ends meet. Nana became a domestic servant.
Lower middle-class to dirt-poor working-class in one fell swoop!0 -
Another round of QE is bad news, we'll stay dug into our little patch of Dorset, spending as little as possible and trying to make ends meet.
No snow here, we had lots of rain yesterday and I was worried that it was going to freeze overnight and be an ice rink today but it's warm enough that it hasn't frozen and it's turning into a lovely sunny day. We've been for an hour long dog walk this morning - the dog is now curled up in her coat on the sofa sound asleep!
Just trying to motivate myself off the sofa for some batch cooking - I'm planning chilli to go into the slow cooker, then french onion soup for lunch and for portions for the freezer for work lunches and then a butternut squash soup the same. Need to do another batch of portions of pasta to freeze for lunches as well but I'm not sure I have enough energy for all of that!
Hubby has just got to the shed to get the onions to prep for the soup so I guess I'd better get off my bum and do something!
Have a good day all xPiglet
