I'm not a Guardian reader - I don't read any of the dailies but somebody has posted this articel on another forum and its scarey!

I am a Guardian reader, and Polly is definitely one of the good guys, and she gets a lot of flack from right wing trolls that periodically infest the Guardian website. However, until people who are affected by this (that is all of us who have to work at an ordinary job for a living, or can't get one, or who are to sick or old to work, right?) stop believing the tabloids, use their vote, and stop being fooled into believing that the current situation is inevitable /Gordon Brown's fault/ the fault of benefit claimants / the poor as opposed to global meltdown and greedy vested interests, things won't change0 -
OH THANK GOD FOR SOME GOOD NEWS! :j:j:T:T:D:D
I agree too........Mardy can you tell me how you make porridge please ?,cos I know in your neck of the woods your the best people at porridge making...:D
This is how I do it; I put 2 bowls of semi skimmed milk in large bowl and put in micro until boiling then add Scotts porridge oats and boil for 3 to 4 mins.??, Ive been making it this way for years, but talking to a lady like you do when in a queue at supermarket and I had my oats in my basket , and she said only the scottish make decent porridge, so cmon tell us the secret.......:D0 -
Mrs VP, thrilled for you and Mr VP. Great news!Normal people worry me.0

Dawn - totally agree. People seem too busy blaming other people or sneering at other people or envying other people - nobody seems to be thinking!
Shegar that sounds very complicated..
Take 1 mug of porridge to 3 mugs of water.
In pot on cooker.
Add salt.
Stir until boiling, then simmer for 5 mins, stirring occ.
Serve with milk and or single cream.
That's itThen once you've poured it into the plate, fill the pot with cold water and lay aside. By lunchtime the water will have soaked the pot clean.

Mrs VP - hooray!
Mardatha that is scary, didn't realise the extent of LA cuts still to come. Have read many articles by Polly Toynbee, would say she knows what she is talking about.
Great to hear so many of us are walking - good for the soul as well as the body I think.0 -
