DH managed to get one of those wake up lights from Lidl. It's huge! We shall see how well it wakes him up... if the light doesn't work at least I can drop it on him!
Swimming tonight and the pool is near a waitrose so I will pop in and check for whoopsies. Couldn't find them last week (though kept spotting people with bargains!), but the week before they were all piled up near the front... only the second time I'd been so need to suss it out...June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

eta,the first time I saw the NL they were rainbow colours, the second time just green, what has anyone else seen? - just wondering if my teenage memories have gone adrift?
I've seen them in green, blue, white and tinges of pinky-purple, a long time ago (1979 or '80) in Fife, as well as the standard green. Haven't seen them for years now, though, thanks to living down South.Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
I have just applied for a survey for free cavity wall insulation from my energy provider. I'm sceptical as I don't believe anything is ever for free but I've read the small print and can't see anything that wouldn't make me qualify other than the size of my house. We'll see. I couldn't get the LL's permission for loft insulation as it would mean all his boarding out work will have to be taken out and his stuff he stores there removed. Lets hope he allows this treatment.
Well, it's worth a try. I get a call back tomorrow to finalise the survey date.
I have listened to the debating since 3.30 about the EU 'veto' and I don't know what the heck to think. So many politicians saying that the people are pleased with the decision mixed with labour condemning it as a fate worse than death. I am actually tired of listening to the labour party members bleat on and on. I actually listen to Cameron and find myself in part agreement with much as he says. His demeanour comes across as genuine and I feel he's the strongest man available for the job. If Ed Milliband ever manages to become PM I will sudder and worry as he comes across as being smarmy and too many sound bites come from his mouth is all the 'right' places.
That's a dim and dum housewife's view anyway0 -

As far as I understand it their income is in relation with their cost of living. I'm not sure even that could be said about here at the moment.
I'm no expert, I just think, in an idiotic and ignorant way, that we shouldn't be giving any of our country's powers away to the EU member countries. It depends on why Cameron did what he did as to whether I agree with the decision or not. Did he do it because it was the best thing for OUR country or did he do it so his life as a politician/prime minister/leader/keep coalition together would be more solid/easier. That bit isn't clear.
I don't know how it effects us in our homes. If the EU and countries in it are mostly crippled by debt and the whole currency was about to collapse do we really need to be a part of that? Do we need to be part of it in order to get the growth that is supposed to be helping our own economy? I don't know.
If Norway can trade and stay afloat using their own rules on trade and currency then why can't we? I can't help but think 'we'll never win Eurovision again!! :rotfl:
Not sure if this will upset the apple cart but I read on tinternet over the weekend the difference we pay in to the EU and what we actually get out is £53m per month:eek: so if we come out of the EU and thats unchartered waters at the mo. thats a lot of money for the UK to spend on itself each month....... makes you think a bit eh?SPC Nbr.... 1484....£800 Saved £946 in 2013)

Beginning to wonder if I could get away with hibernating this week!! Been signed off by doc for another week and given yet more pills to take, I'm going to be rattling when I walk soon!! Hoping that them and a few changes to my diet should start to get things moving in the right direction. Feeling totally fed up with everything now
been getting abdominal pains for nearly 3 months now and I'm still not conviced they really know what's wrong
Sorry to moan, I guess on the plus side it's given me a chance to catch up with things on hereHave got loads of ideas for bits to do to the house to make up more OS for the winter. Just need to stay awake long enough to get them done (anti-spasmodic (sp?) pills tend to knock me out for a couple of hours after taking them). Have found some old blankets whilst I was tidying up and think I might look at trying to attache them to the back of the curtains in the living room and bedroom to try keep a bit of heat in. Have put in for a quote for cavity insulation too, figure might as well get survey done if I'm going to be at home a while.
Can't remember who mentioned it but was wondering how you make mango chutney with nectarines? Is it the as a mango chutney recipe but just using the same amount nectarine?? Spotted some on whoopsie earlier and need to pop back for milk so thought I might pick some up and give it a go if there are any left.
Hugs to all who need them :grouphug: and keep safe all in the yucky weather

I've just been out with our pup and the weather has turned very nasty indeed. The wind and rain are gushing now. Not looking forward to walking to school tomorrow.
Off to go give my two their hot water bottles. I feel better knowing they have them and hope my little one doesn't fall out of bed tonight 'because the hot water bottle pushed her out'. The trials of being a mum... a skint mum.0 -
Tink, I think anything that adds another layer is worth it with curtains. And you are not moaning, you are stating the facts which are making you fed up. Nothing is worse than not knowing whats wrong with you. Just do things bit by bit.
I have got going with the clean up - where do all these 'useful' bits and pieces come from that ended up in a whicker basket on the window ledge??? Found more things to add to the decorations I am making and....my glue sticks!Clearing the junk to travel light
