Phantom pictures! Please can anyone help?

Absolutely mystified! I took some special pictures at the weekend on my digital camera. Previously I deleted all former ones and the file was empty.
Reckon I snapped around 50. The ones I was particularly thrilled with disappeared (just my luck!), only to return later in the day. I have not deleted any at all. However when I uploaded them on to my computer they have disappeared again, I have only about 20 remaining of the party, but strangely previous ones I had deleted have appeared!

Can anyone help? I would dearly like to find the phantom ones as it was a very special occasion. Is it a lost cause?:cry:

How are you uploading these pictures from the camera to the computer?

Seems like your memory card maybe going down the drain, try a full format after you have saved any pictures.

Sorry I am not very technical, but yes I am uploading to computer via memory card. Luckily I have a spare for future use. Silly question what sort of shelf life do they have, want to avoid this happening again, it is so upsetting!

Again silly question j davies but what do you mean " try a full format after saving pictures?"

You know when you connect the Camera to the PC and you get told camera is connected blah blah blah, anyway open My Computer, then right click the camera drive and choose format (this erases the memory card), dont use quick format, shelf life depends on what conditions the card is stored at, i.e Heat, Damp, Cold, etc etc.

Have you actually copied these pictures onto your computer? i.e. Use Windoze Explore, Select the picture, Copy and then Paste it into a directory on your computer.

Just because you can view them, does not necessarily mean that you have copied them.

Why are you giving instructions to format the memory card, when the poster is desperate to recover these pictures?

Warning, if you format, you will lose your pictures!

Why are you trying to wind me up with your stupid posts, the OP clearly asked how to format the card may I suggest your read posts before you engage brain and fingers.

Some cameras store images on internal memory and when that is full you can store the rest on a removable memory card. Check the cameras menu system and see what options you have for storing images. Its possible your missing images are on the cameras internal memory if you only downloaded from the card.
