what's in it for Yodel?

I'm finding it hard to figure out what yodel is up to and how it benefits them.

They aren't delivering parcels (a week later and still awaiting a "next day" delivery) so surely the backlog is building and will only get worse running up to Christmas. How does having a huge backlog benefit them? Will they dispose of the parcels? Return them to Sports Direct and others saying they tried to deliver but no one was ever in? Surely that strategy can't last forever. Deliver them weeks late? - not even feasible with more coming every day.

Any insights, ideas?

Save them all up and deliver to an area when they've got enough. Saves their petrol.

That's an interesting idea but I would have thought that the volumes involved would make that very difficult. Just the task of sorting by area would get enormous with days' (weeks' ?) worth of parcels.

I'm in London NW1. Surely they have lots of parcels for this area?

I would think they have levels of service, so if a parcel falls out of this it gets put the the back of the pile and all the other take priority, bit like what Royal Mail do when they strike

I am waiting for a parcel or even a card / email / text to tell me they can't deliver..Boots are looking into it for me but I am not holding my breath.
I am meant to call tomorrow for an update but it is not look hopeful and Boots will not allow me to cancel or change my order at this stage.

    Terrible service

I've noticed the past couple of Christmas's that firms like TNT, DHL, Citilink get so over run with parcels that they actually put them through Royal Mails network. Even throughout the year a lot of parcels from other firms are using RM!.

Report the companies you are expecting next day service from, to trading standards. Make sure you mention yodel is the carrier. If enough people do that, they'll soon stop using yodel.

I tried reporting yodel this week. TS were understanding, but at the end of the day said it was the retailer who were outsourcing their delivery and not giving me the service they'd promised. I said I was more than happy with the retailer's conduct, refund was pretty prompt, but in hindsight perhaps the only way to get these companies to take notice is by making their association with yodel more trouble than it's worth.
