Best way to move to a micro sim?

I'd rather not try cutting my existing sim down to size!

I've got an unlocked iPhone 3GS, with a 1 month rolling contract for £10/month with Three. I want to get an iPhone 4S from the USA when I go there.

Cheapest rolling contract micro sim deal is £15/month from Three - this is a bad deal as for £15/month on Three PAYG you get "unlimited" data.

What is the best way of moving to a micro sim? I do have an unused Three PAYG micro sim - could they transfer my contract and number to it?

    Hello,

Yeah they can transfer your number over to a Micro Sim. Not too sure about the contract though. they have specific microsim plans on the Three Website. I think it might be worth cutting it down yourself. There are plenty of tutorials online for this.

Try ringing Three and asking if you can have your contract switched over to a micro sim

    Hope this is useful

Here is a guide to cutting down a micro sim. It's a PDF file.

Just another thing. Have a look at Giff Gaff. You can get a pretty good deal on them and they cut down your sim for you. :)

remember to get the unlocked sim free one that starts at $649 (£420) this does not including sales tax and you will have to pay import duty.

are you sure it isn't cheaper and simpler to just get one from the UK at £499 including VAT sim free?

you didn't think that they were $199 over there did you? (they are just with a $80+ a month 24 month contract)

As far as I know, the specific microsim contracts are for the ipad, I've just phoned up for a microsim for my nokia lumia and they have sent it at no cost and no change to my contract.

You probably wont have to pay import duty, but you will have to pay American tax which is between 7% - 10%, let's say 9%, so that is $707. Exchange rate on credit cards is about $1.55 so you are looking at £460. Slightly cheaper.

I have cut down a few SIM cards and they all work fine.

Buy a sim cutter from ebay for a few pounds and cut your existing sim down to keep your existing plan.
