I'm a bit worried now that HSBC will think I've been committing fraud as I've paid off £1225 of debt this last week... a few spattered faster payments that I never usually make. Hmm...

A very similar case happened to me. Lloyds closed my 3 x current acts and credit card without notification. I found out wen I was at Tesco checkout and my card had been blocked. I went to lloyds to ask them and they ring head office and jus gave me !!!!!!!! answers. I had been banking with them for years and said they couldnt do anythin. In current act 1 I had 1500, in current act 2=300 and current act 3=50 and I regularly trnfd cash between them and credit card bill was 400 and I had this linked payment to my current act. I
They didn't let my dd go thru 2 pay credit card bill and fined me for non payment and my money was in my current act which I cudnt get access 2 and they wudnt help me in branch and I had no money 2 pay rent or get food and i got so !!!!ed off and wen I threatened 2 call police and not leave branch if I didnt get my money they then asked me so many questions y I transfer money between my acts and who I transferred money to in my acts (I sent my bf some money 4 past few months and then he gave it back in same act cos he was short of cash till he got paid). They thought I was doing fraud or something y closed my acts, but if they stated it to me I wud respect the not making me suffer and have undue stress. But they dnt care if ur a longstanding loyal customer they can anytime refuse to give u service or close act even if u have high credit score and no probs on ur credit report like me. So I opened act with first direct instead who give brilliant customer service.

Well, I read your original thread on this curious case of the credit card bill in 2010 and like most on MSE at the time we didn't really understand it then, amd I'm still none the wiser having read the above.
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2930694

Then there was the equally curious matter of the £1000 that vanished on two occassions from your current account as you reported in 2009

Then there was this bizarre behaviour in 2011 where some money was "put" into your halifax account from an unknown source - so you went and used for a loan repayment when it wasn;t removed after a time

Quite why you quoted it for all to see on MSE escapes me - the next poster wanted to be in court to watch the case!

I can only imagine that Lloyds decided that you were a customer they no longer wished to do business with.........

  • Never been an issue, no overdrafts, no loans without permission, only ever followed the (their) rules. For years.

Completely out of the blue "your accounts are all closed and we never want to deal with you again". Pretty final, and my circumstances might change dramatically Barclays!

All I want to know is why? Why does barclays feel they can simply deal with a loyal customer in such a disresepctful and disgraceful manner?

Fortunately in this world today of Social Menid and networking, such dreadful service can be easily discxuyssed and shared and people are more liklely to vote with their feet on the basis of a lack of advocacy.

I've asked several times, and they just say "they've changed the way they provide service to their customers".

Not good enough Barclays... you've been happy to have my business for years without question.

    Anyone else had similar issues?

Did you made any complaint about this? Just wondering what happened at this time
