Lloyds Credit Card Arrears - Not My fault

Options
Hi All,

Please can you help me.

My first credit card i got with lloyds who i have a current account with which i use for my main banking.

On 21st oct, i go into branch to pay off my credit card £275 bill off early due for 4th novemeber, the payment goes through and then its declined, management say its a central team issue and block my Credit card and Current Account, which they say they can do at any time and its not their problem.

Same day on telephone banking i pay off my credit card bill and then she says its declined.
I go into branch they dont let me have my money from my current account, and ask me about each transaction and the reason behind it and whos its to?-(nobs). I take out my full money from my current account.

Lloyds send me a letter im overdrawn on my current account and have fined me- but payment has gone through.

Credit card statement - fined for no minimum payment. Rang credit card people, i can only pay my credit card for via lloyds current account.

I have been frined twice and all my accounts and cards blocked, and there is money in my current account, which they wont give me access to. Please help what do i do?????

  • How did you pay the bill on21st October?
Was it cheque cash or debit card?

When I know this I will be able to advise further.
  • went into branch directly from my lloyds current account
  • telephone banking- then directly from my current account
  • By directly did you pay in cash cheque or debit card?
If debit card and you did not have enough cleared or available funds the payment would not go through.
The same thing would happen with telephone banking.
  • Are you saying that they took the money out of the current account which caused you to go overdrawn and you were fined?

Then the Credit Card never received the payment and fined you for not paying them on time?

Where is the money now then?

If I were you I would book an appointment with the bank and find out what is going on. And next time you have to make a payment on a credit card, ensure you have the funds before paying, because it sounds like you tried to pay from your current account, didn;t have the funds, so you were charged for the bounce. And you haven't paid your CC at all.

My biggest tip would be to spend less then you earn and cut up the Credit Card forever!
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

  • i had money in enough money in my current account- they cancelled the payment- i do understand it would not clear otherwise, this is not the problem. I tried to explain it below........

    my current account:
    1000
    -275 (credit card payment)
    275 (credit card payment cancelled)
-1000 (went into branch they blocked my acount and no access to my cash, so i took it out)
275 (credit card payment gone through- overdrwan- fined)

    my credit card statement:
    275- thankyou payment recieved
275- lloyds tsb reversed payment - i asked them why and they dont give me an answer

please help what do i do?
  • I don't understand how you withdrew the £1000 if you state that you had no access to it???

Plus, once you withdrew the £1000, another attempt at the credit card payment would have put you in overdraft, surely........therefore ending up with the bounced payment and overdraft fee (I assume this is the "fine" you refer to?)

You should have left the £1000 in the account and gone in to the bank to get them to explain the glitch and sort it out, not complicate it by withdrawing all your available funds so they can rightfully say well you have insufficient funds to pay the card now........
  • to clarify;

    1. 21st october i went into branch to pay off my credit card bill via my current account- my debit card (1000 in my account), payment was accepted for credit card and then reversed by lloyds

    4. i went in branch to lloyds and faught with them in the branch and then i threatened to call the police as they wouldnt allow me access to my money and then they let me take out 1000

You must have known for you to have attempted to pay it again.
