  • + if its a first credit card the apr will be huge with no deals on one would think..
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)

Looks like i was lucky when i was given £1,800 on my first card with no history then.
  • £500 was my first cc limit as well, but within a few years I had plenty more on a range of cards. Just be smart with it and avoid missing any payments and they will normally increase your limit within 12 months.
    DFW - DEBT FREEEEEE!

    Total - 10762/10762 :)

Every silver lining has its cloud.
  • £500 is nothing, I was hoping for at least £1000 for stoozing. Can I ask for a higher limit?

My first cc was an Access card and had one issued to me in 1973 with a credit limit of £150.00.

Ah, the good old days. My first was a Master Charge (sic) from Citibank round about the same time. I can't remember what the exact limit was; probably around $1000.

see if i spend £500 and then pay it off at once in 3 months time, is this good or bad
Worth mentioning as this is your first card, remember this will be £500 total at any point in time, so if you spend up to that limit in one statement period, you cannot spend anything else until the bill has been paid otherwise you'll go over limit.

Incidentally my first CC about 15 years ago as a student, I don't think the limit was even in three figures :D, so £500 as a start with no credit history sounds entirely reasonable.
  • I got £250 with Access in 1985. No problems with payments etc.

But then got only £100 on Barclaycard in 1990.

Does stoozing still actually work these days?
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • At least some people have a credit card and I would be happy to get £500 :)
I'm not poor i'm just skint
