Can anyone recommend a good knife set?

Unfortunately, all knives go blunt after a few uses. Half the battle is learning how to keep them sharp.

Also good knives are sharper. I could not believe the sharpness of the Global knives I bought. The G2 sliced through a potato with ease. I also have a Robert Welch knife with a German stainless steel blade, and that is very good too despite having a more modest price. I think you need to pay to get decent steel, and a decent handle, but beyond that you are entering professional territory. Global knives for me are a luxury.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
