Just want to wish good luck to the OP - you sound like a nice person who's having a horrible time. There will be a place for you, I promise0

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having a hard time of it lately.
I have browsed this site for years, mainly looking for deals and obviously not involving myself in these threads but thought that I could genuinley offer you some advice that would help.
With your technical background, customer service skills, and not being able to do physical labour I'd say you were a perfect candidate to work for a home based customer service company like Teletech.
There is already an existing thread about this company, but as I am a new user I cannot post the link.
I have worked for them since they first offered the @Home program in the UK and it really is a fantastic place to work for.
Your previous parking experience will only be of benefit to the role when it comes to communicating with & de-escalating customers and will not hold you back.
Wishing you luck0 -
Thanks for that, I'll look into it.0

I would firmly agree with the advice about voluntary work- I was unemployed after leaving university and volunteered in a number of roles, including working with disabled children and helping out at a care home. My current job has nothing to do with these roles, but they liked the fact that even though I had been out of work I was still doing something with my time. This won't affect your jobseekers allowance either.
Volunteering for the Samaritans might be a good idea- my mate does it part time on top of her full time job. It isn't physical work, and it looks amazing on your CV.
My mum has severe endometriosis and cannot have a regular job because of her health problems, but she volunteers at her local Oxfam shop every week when she can to keep busy.0 -
