if you do want help then you have to actively engage in thinking about how to overcome problems, not just rejecting every idea.
I'm not rejecting every idea but in honesty I would prefer some paid work. The volunteering thing I am up for otherwise but transport is... oh hang on thats just an excuse0 -
I think the vast majority who are unemployed at the moment would prefer paid work to volunteering. But you say yourself that that just isn't happening because you can't get prospective employers to look behind your previous type of work. The best way to get them to look at something other than your previous type of work, is to give them something else to look at. And that's where volunteering comes in. It's a means to an end. Given your health situation, it's also less pressurised than a full-time / paid job.
I think you previously mentioned that you were in a relationship so I accept that moving to jobs may not be an option, but don't be put off by your previous encounter with the volunteer co-ordinator. It may be that your illness got in the way before and you're in a better place to be open-minded about the type of work you'd be prepared to offer to do.
When you're in a rut, it is very difficult to do anything except say "Yes but ...". Trying something different gives you a different perspective.0 -

I think volunteering might be the best option. Like what's been noted above, there are a host of opportunities in this sector and it's a great way to give something back. Having volunteered myself last year, it can really deliver a sense of self-satisfaction that is lost in so many jobs. At the very least tipping your toes into the volunteer world might help you to realise what it is you want to move on to. I wish you the very best and hope that you find a solution to your predicament.0

You should maybe check out vision2learn.net . They are a government funded company and offer free online courses. You choose the subjedt you'd like tos tudy and they "assign" you to a college but you don't actually have to go to the college, it's all from home. You speak to your tutor online and sit tests exactly like you would if you were in a class - they're very good and FREE0
