My sister used to live in reddish julez.

TBH I dont know it that well, she used to live staggering distance from bredbury hall. It wasnt the most picturesque I wouldnt say, and there was then ( about 5 years ago) a bit of a teens hanging about issue, but whether they actually DID anything apart from chat outside the chinese, I dont think so. She certainly never feared for her life or anything.

However, if you really feel that unsure about an area - you are really up against it timewise, couldnt you rent there for 6 months, then youll know whether you want to buy there or not?

Did you not get any joy with the other places?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Drove through bredbury today, after edgeley, reddish, offerton and a few other bits of stockport.

I've seen most north west towns and have lived in shaw, royton, heald green and now failsworth.

I'd say that bredbury is a decent enough area. not bramhall, but then you don;t pay bramhall prices. Better than edgeley and imo better than rediish or offerton. And just remember that even the best places have some horrible bits.

Thanks lynz, hubby and I loved Heald Green and Cheadle Hulme but the houses werent so good. The one you emailed me that was our joint favourite was next to a block of flats with smashed windows. I went for a meal at the local pub picturing myself living there but couldnt imagine being in any of the homes we viewed. One had a sofa outside its door!

Moss Nook and round there was ok but one house in particular actually had the runway lights at the end of the garden...lol. It was the day of the terrible winds and the swaying planes!!!! So yes a bit scary.

So back to Stockport... On a more positive note MIL viewed it tonight and she loves it(it takes a lot for her to say that). So we are going over the asking price... Till tomoz I dont know how much but anyone any experience of this and know what the other couple may put forward?

    House is on at 139950

Yeah another couple offered asking price before us so yesterday they told us they'd considered both offers and both were on an equal foot so there putting it to both of us to re-evaluate our offers.

Just wondered if anyone has an incling of the kind of figure the other couple may go to. We have till noon today...

Im worried they may favour the other couple first as they are first time buyers and they put in their offer first.

I thought Id let you know I got the house, went to final offers and I paid 3k over the asking price but insisted a lot of things were left, blinds, curtains, light fittings, plants and even a mattress in a cabin bed in 3rd bedroom. I know these sound silly but they were all very expensive items o would of been easy for them to take them with them. Saves any expense when I move in.

  • Bredbury has a mix of socio-economic areas including council and housing association estates and well as private. A good proportion of private homes are situated within council estates. A visit to the area in the later evening should give you a better picture of the area around the house.

Hi, I grew up in Woodley and went to Bredbury Comprehensive school. I turned out alright, I would say it was a decent enough school! My brother still lives in Bredbury, it's an O.K area, don't touch Brinnington though!
My brother is looking to move, he lives just off Benz Lane and it's a bit busy on traffic and parking. He wants to move to Romiley.

Thanks for your advice I was at work in stockport thurs fri so got quite a few questions in about the area. General feelings are its OK. WE looked at a house on the Broadway and that felt rough but this is further up just before the train staion and tucked away. I feel so happy about the house. Ive never walked into a house and wanted as much as I wanted this one. My family live in Blackpool and my plan it to move there for good in approximatly 5 years so my kids will be 8 and 6 maximum. Schools aren't excellent but either are they poor so I should be happy. Just have to give them plenty of help at home to encourage them. Luckily there isnt any council around this house as thats one of the main things that would put my off any house. No offence to anyone Im just not used to living in or around them.
