I bought a netbook recently, mostly for web browsing on the move.
It came with Windows & Starter operating system.
I added avg free virus software.
Im missing having Word, Excel and Outlook.
Could I download freeware versions?
If I plug in an external hard drive from my pc which has my Outlook calender, would it recognise it? They they compatible?
Sorry if the questions are not very clear.

AVG Removal Tool
Avast 6 Free (No need to install Google Chrome or to let it take over your Home page)
Libre Office
Open Office0 -
Maybe you could explain more about what you would like to do with outlook callender, couldn't quite understand what you were asking.
However, open office is a good alternative to Microsoft Office, it is set out differently to Microsoft Office and takes a bit of getting used to if you are used to the Microsoft Office layout but it is free which is a big advantage.
Download from here;

Of course it would be remiss of me not to suggest installing Ubuntu in dual boot mode or indeed via a live distro running from USB stick(or any flavour of Linux) which is much lighter on resources and come with Libre Office too, and also for both Win/*ux VLC is fine for playing media. And my vote goes too for TakeThis's ideas dump AVG get Avast or perhaps Avira4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . AVG removal tool? I only just installed AVG and removed all the free 30 day trial stuff that the netbook came pre-loaded with.
I meant to say that I installed Firefox as I prefer it to Internet Explorer. Can I somehow copy my toolbar from my pc?0 -
Thanks for your replies.
To clarify, what I am trying to do is get this new netbook ready to travel with me at the weekend. I am only used to working on the pc and I need to access my calender, my emails (all my webmail email addresses are directed to Outlook), also a particular spreadsheet and to be able to use word and I need to log on to the internet to use a browser based software.
But it is only a netbook so I don't want to clog it up and slow it down.
I've heard of Ubuntu but I am completely out of my depth here.0 -

If you mean "bookmarks" use Firefox Sync give me a mo and will look for you.
Check the tools menu for sync or goto Mozilla.org and look there.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0 -

I have been looking at lots of sites.
But I think Open Office doesnt do Outlook equvalent.
Also, I only have a netbook (HP mini, atom processor) so I don't want to slow it down.0 -
