I know many have a poor opinion of Norton but I've found the Norton Internet Security Suite to be good. Certainly suitable for someone who doesn't actively look after their computer because by default, it performs scans automatically during computer idle time. It also does automatic scanning of any exe that is downloaded. False positive and detection rate figures are respectable and it has never noticeably slowed our computers down. Now on the third year of using it with no plans to change.
Having said that, no AV program will catch everything so it should only be one layer of security. For extra safety, I'd recommend using Sandboxie and Malwarebytes AntiMalware Pro, both of which run fine alongside Norton.
Also change the DNS server to one that provides filters for sites that are likely to carry malware.Error! - Keyboard not attached. Press any key to continue.0
