We live in a free market economy. Nobody on here complains when people go to Boots and clear the shelves of all the offers and leave none for other people! Yes I am a Boots and Tesco shopper also but I share all my bargains with my family and friends and I dont take any money from them. When the festival was quite new I remember that the organiser was said to have bought a new Jaguar or some such car for about £11000 in cash just after the festival. So is that not profiteering aswell!!! I kinda of wish I had not responded to this thread and I am sure all the other buying to sell on E-Bay are now keeping quiet.0

Rose - reselling concert tickets is frowned upon by the majority as they are not subject to the usual free market conditions. Prices are kept artificially low by promoters and artists so that they are available to the majority and not just those who can afford them, therefore, normal market forces don't apply. As they are a limited commodity, (ie, there is fixed capacity) by purchasing and selling to the highest bidder, it is going against the whole point of staging a concert in the first place and promoters may as well just charge those prices to start with.
We do live in a free market which is why drugs companies can sell a drug that costs 4p to make for £20 to developing countries but that doesn't make it right.
I agree with what you say about Eavis et al though, don't see how they can criticise when they are the ones that make all the money.
If anyone wants to make sure they get their tickets at face value, try

Good guide to maximise your chance of getting tickets without having to pay over the odds.0 -
I live in Pilton and we have always been able to sell our tickets but now we can't. We can take £150.00 instead of the ticket but this is not nearly enough compensation for the hassle we have to put up with. We have no choice but to put up with the festival and most of us are happy that a lot of people are having a good time. The festival lasts at least six months for us with the infrastructure going in, the mess (it is still in the hedges months later), and the difficulties getting to work never mind if one of is ill (the hospital beds are kept for festival goers). Yet it is O.K. for Melvin Benn who runs the festival to sell cup final tickets to the licensing officer at Mendip District Council. Football tickets are the only tickets that are illegal to sell on. Hypocrisy at it's highest.0

so he`s not allowed to make a profit then?
you say you went as a worker for 12 years which would suggest you know how the festival works and how much money goes to charity.
in the early days eavis lost loads of money but still persisted with the festival ,he actually wasn`t that bothered about punters getting in for free it was mendip council for health and safety reasons etc.
the festival has changed with the times so should we ,yes it was free and easy yers ago but that was then this is now.
as for changing the pic on your card that would be fraud !!0 -
