Better speakers for TV

  • The TV seem to have just about every output commonly used - not to bothered about surround sound - a 2.1 system will do.
I'd be surprised if your TV has every output commonly used, TVs normally have a reasonable array of inputs but not outputs.

Would be sensible to get a system with a remote otherwise you'll have a pain having to get up each time you want to change the volumn

No need to spend a load of money and get a separate amp to seriously improve the sound of a modern flat screen TV. Just buy a 2.1 speaker system designed for a PC and plug it into the headphone socket of your TV, or RCA line out sockets.

Using this with my LCD TV and the sound quality is transformed.

    I agree.

Just make sure the tv speakers are disconnected when the headphone socket is in use. The tv remote will control the volume so you don't want both tv and pc speakers working at the same time.

Excellent idea! I just happened to have a spare 2.1 sound system in my attic. I plugged it into the TV headphone socket - the sound is so much better than it was and it's cost me absolutely nothing!
