3yr old Peugeot 107 - CD player suddenly stopped working?!

I am utterly baffled by this! Stuck a CD into the player two days ago...... display says 'loading'... then..... nothing.....and 'Error 1' comes up on the display. I tried various CDs which had all played perfectly, including pre-recorded and home recorded. Nothing. Could it need cleaning????

Then radio works, so it can't be a fuse (?)

Any kind person have any suggestions for me to try before I give in and go back to the Dealership and probably pay a small fortune? I've googled like mad and can't find anything helpful in the manual or on various Peugeot message boards.

Always try cleaning first.

That about the only 'user service' action that you can try.
