hi all after a recommendation for a set of mains powered for my persian cat, basicly i took on this cat and she was badly matted when i got her today i`v had a cat groomer round and i wouldn`t mind being able to clip her myself having done most of the work today and being charged for it:eek: i have some whal pocket pet ones which i just use to trim and are handy, but after some mains one now i would rather spend money on a good set and do her myself as today cost me £60 i almost passed out lol! :rotfl:

Once she's had all the matts clipped out can you not just ensure she's groomed regularly to keep her coat in a good state?0

it is very much going to be a gradual thing grooming wise as she point blank will not let and brush near her lol! so i would like to have my own clippers in just in case i ever need them0

Oster clippers are the best, but they are pricey. xRIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. I used these for my old collie cross - didn't use them on the cats though as I've got short haired ones now. Simple to use and not too expensive.

I would start to get her used to a brush, maybe while she's on your knee, stroke her (a lot!) then one stroke of the brush, then more strokes... etc etc. To wait until she's matted so you can clipper her won't be nice for her at all, or taking all her fur away to prevent it.0

yes i started that last night first hand then comb the hand then comb etc, it is very much going to take me a few months to get her used to even being touched fullstop! poor girl has been in an outdoor pen for the duration of her life and had very little human contact:mad: it just makes me so mad that the poor girl has basicly been used as a baby machine! shes looking very sorry for herself now with most of her hair gone but i couldn`t leave her the way she was as the matts were pulling her skin. my previous persian who sadly got ran over eariler in the year never once needed shaving although i did trim his hair on his back end and chin from time to time as he wasn`t the cleanest of cats lol :rotfl:0 -
Oh poor thing! people like that shouldn't be allowed to have animals! How is she with catnip? Some cats will sell their souls for it, and she can be rolling around on your knee while you stroke/comb her.0

Oster clippers are widely used by vets, as are Moser 45's. We have 4 sets of the Moser 45 and we do get them serviced annually but they have done use good service, far more than you will ever use. £100 ish will get you a top quality set that will last for years!0
