Max. of £120 for 3 children and 2 adults, incl 2 chickens!
THis includes a fortnightly organic veg box.
My new year's resolution was only to buy things from economy ranges or RTC (apart from the veg box which is a bargain in itself) and I would say 90% or more of the time I have managed this. Except when ds was ill and the only thing he would eat was a pot noodle

Hi, I am new to this and wondered if anyone had any idea of roughly how much it should cost me to feed etc, four adults and a sixteen year old with an adults appetite. Only hubbie works so I have no income from kids. In January I kept all till receipts and spent £280 total on food loo rolls laundry and washing items. Feb is up to £340 already!! I did buy a whole mutton from a friend at the weekend for £63 and that will last for months. Daughter contributes by buying all animal feeds. The hens have just started laying again too, and if \i can keep them off my veg plot we will have home grown veg this year.business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527

I am inspired to start my grocery challenge, I have no idea how much we spend a month-generally I wander round Tesco's 'picking bits' up that usually comes to about £70, then I send the hubby out daily to pick up what I need for dinner and packed lunches. I've no idea how much he spends in a week on shopping or in the petrol used !!
So I have done a meal plan thanks to the OS thread and did one big shop on sunday at asda-my OH is banned from any shops so that I can tally up how much I spend-it is already doing me good I refrained from buying more than needed when I went to the grocers today.
Hopefully this will not only save me money but help me become more organised at home.
Is there usually a new thread for March does anyone know ?

As it's the end of the month, I felt I ought to post although it is pointless really - went completely off-track this month as bf and I have decided to separate so sticking to meal plan was the last thing on my mind - it's been a case of making do and eating out as much as possible. I'm undecided whether to try again in March as we'll still be living together initially so it might be too difficult to do, although should be in my own place later on in the month so can be OS with gusto!
New flat, new budget, new commitment to MSE!

Final report in for Feb challenge. I set myself a budget of £200 for the month (there is just me and OH) and in the end spent £205.37 and ended up cooking an unexpected 'big' dinner for guests so fairly pleased about this
I've also identified areas to improve on esp staying OUT of M&S - although DH does really like some of their food and I don't want him to be miserable. The other thing is that although snacks etc come out of a different pot of money, I need to cut down on these as well. Not just for financial reasons either!
Gonna follow the example of someone else here and go for a spend of £150-£200 for March. BTW yes there is a new thread for this0 -
Well just about did it so target again next month £300, think I will have to get more inventive though. Have just done on-line order for next month (being delivered tomorrow) at once BOGOF have been discounted should be just under £100 for 2 weeks worth of meals (including all toiletries, nappies and cleaning stuff for month). Have also switched DD1 over to soya milk, youghurts and goats cheese to see if her skin improves)0

My son mentioned goats milk this morning. He had it when he was 2 yrs old for about 2 months and his severe eczema at the time became much improved. He wants to give it a try again! He is nearly 7 now and the eczema is bad on his hands and feet. Goats milk freezes well, look for it in the RTC shelves because it is expensive. I am not looking forward to how it may impact on next month's budget, or how he will smell. Goat milk makes your child smell like a goat.
