Well my budget for February was £200.00 & I spent £201.69 so not too bad considering had extra mouths to feed during half term.
Budget for March (5 weeks till payday which is last Friday in month) therefore £250.00 less overspend from last month leaves £248.31.
See you on the March thread!0 -
 What went wrong? last month I was below target and was so pleased and now I've overspent already :wall:
I think, my success last month gave me a false sense of security and I've started treating myself too often, or did I have to stock up more because the cupboard was getting empty? Don't think so
Well, I have added my target/ spent to my signature, so I see it every day.
Hopefully, with the giving up supermarkets and spending no extra money for lent I will do better next month. :cheesy:He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

I should have stuck to £260, came as near as could to it!
Right next months a 5 week one for me again (just the way our bills/income etc work and also starts Monday for me) Will stick with the £260 target for that month as the overspent money is to come off it. Have already placed an order to arrive on the 1st from goodnessdirect inc the free fruit & veg box offer :rotfl:One day I might be more organised...........

Hi everyone
Today I have completed my grocery challenge for the month. I cannot believe that this entire month I have spent £11.00 in total on groceries, I hasten to add that I have used £10.00 of my sainsbury's points, and my £10.00 ASDA gift card. I also only did the challenge for 3 weeks as I joined late.
Thanx to everyone for the motivation and encouragement. Here's to having another good month in March, am looking forward to another good month, while I empty my cupboards and large freezer that is overloaded! Am hoping to stretch this out for a couple of months. I live on my own so only have one very hungry person to feed! LOL
Cheers, sorry bout the essay!

Hi all, I think i need to join the March Grocery challenge but rather suspect I am in for a shock. any suggestions re whether weekly or monthly budgeting is better? Am worried as really trying to cook from scratch and eat loads of veges and healthy food (am very very overweight). Will I be able to do this on a budget without sacrificing my healthy eating approach? Any tips warmly welcomed.
Thanks

Depends how you buy and what you buy.
I do the challenge over the month as things like flour, sugar, coffee etc etc I buy approx monthly, some weeks I spend very little, some weeks more. I spend less doing challenge monthly as make things stretch a bit further. Do what's easiest for you.
Budget is set by you, you don't have to sacrifice anything if you don't want to. Cooking from scratch is cheaper. I buy a huge amount of fresh fruit and veg and am just trying to get it cheaper rather than reducing what I buy.
I think what worked best for me was calculating what I spent in a month, then reducing it bit by bit, I was brave first month and halved what I spent (I spent over £750 the previous December) but I knew I could half it if spent more wisely and threw less out. I have overspent this month but what I have bought will last well into next month so have added it to next months budget. Rather than miss good offer to stay in budget. Good luck. One day I might be more organised...........

This is my first time on the Grocery challenge, I set myself £260 to feed the four of us incl alcohol and all cleaning products.
Unfortunately, I am already up to £272.42 but this has included: 2 Birthday meals at home + wine, A meal for friends and Cream buns / cakes for 45 people at work(as it was both Mine & OH birthday this month).
Will set the same £260 for next month though as I think it might be more successful without the B'days. It's oened my eyes to how much rubbish we normally buy and end up throwing away.
Many Thanks for all the tips
PS: I also started Pigback and have £11.60 + more to come once Tesco wine delievered in early March, and mad £95.51 on ebay so far....Been falling further in despite having an IQ, getting more urgent as I get older & the debt get bigger
