Why send a cheap item RD?

I'm expecting a few low value bits and bobs of haberdashery for my granddaughter, and today got back to the 2nd red card of the week for RD - just ridiculous. And currently a nightmare to arrange re-delivery cos of RM computer problems. (My delivery office is a real pain to get to).0

Because of the false feeling of recorded being "secure" and "safe". I send a lot of parcels and lose almost none.0

Maybe a signature's only wanted when you're out, to fill the card in correctly, as things that have come recorded & I've been in, have just been handed to me.0

I've said it before on this forum - there are certain 'uses' for recorded delivery in my opinion, the main one being that it can be a deterrent to people thinking of saying they never received the item. Another good reason is that I post a lot of items to businesses who have mail rooms or receptions. I can then at least prove that the item reached the building - if it goes missing internally then not my problem. I am well aware (more than most - see my other posts) that signatures are not always obtained but then that makes a claim simple - if RM can't show a signature, they automatically pay out.I don't understand why anyone would send anything recorded. In my opinion it is a total waste of peoples time & money. Many people think its tracked through the whole system, infact its only recorded in the system once the customer has signed for it. If its valuable send it via Special Delivery and if its not just get a certificate of posting.0 -
