Why do you need a car for the interview ?
Can't you get public transport and/or a taxi for the last bit ?
PS good luck with the interview0 -
The interview is a week long?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

nope
car hire companies will typically will not rent out cars below the 20K mileage and for these cars they would be at a loss if they rented out cars for £30 a week.
You can borrow a friends car but you will have no insurance and probably breaking the law, you could get a taxi depending on how far it is it could end up costing more than a hire.
Don't be cheap with car hires.
WHen you hire you should get the the additional coverage for £0 excess. Have a look at "europcar reviews" on google, all 1-2 star reviews.
Europecar is probably typical of all car hire companies, they find a tiny bit of fault and charge you full excess for the damages.
Someone had a tiny scrape on an alloy wheel which would probably only cost £40 to repair professionally, boom, £600 excess.. People have also complained about being charged full excess for little scrapes on the body, which definately does not cost £600 to repair.
I think to an extent all car hire places will do this, you can prtetty much search "[any care hire company] + reviews" and come across horrendos 1 star reviews from people getting ripped off.
caveat emptor, the problem with reviews is that you won't really go out of your way to find a site and leave a review of a car hire after a positive experience, you only do this after getting irate and frustrated with them. So there is a bias for negative reviews over positive ones.
I think for your budget you should really look at public transport, not matter how big or small every city in the country has railway accss and you can get public transport from theire either through local train network or bus or taxi0
