  • not sure about making them maybe fudge or caramel shortcake as they are really really sweet, there are some ridiculously sweet cookies in the takeaway secret recipe book but very delicious!

Failing that how about a bag of boiled sweets would last longer whilst eating and they can be really cheap depending where you buy them.

  • You want to search on here for a recipe for tablet. That'll cure any sweet cravings you're having!!!
  • Welcome :-)

This is a link to an online shop, so they are not home-made, but well worth a try for old-fashioned style sweets.

    http://www.aquarterof.co.uk/

They specialise in old fashioned sweets, like the type you used to buy out of a jar or in a proper sweet shop. I think you can also still get cashback through TopCashBack for this site. I've got sweets of here before and they are brilliant.

For home-made things, are you looking for sweets or cakes/biscuits?

I often use www.bbcgoodfood.com which also has the advantage of reviews from people who've already tried the reciepe.

Home made 'honeycomb' (like the inside of a crunchie) is really easy. You need a heavy bottomed pot, a wooden spoon, a lightly greased baking sheet, a cup of sugar and about a quarter teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda.

Put your sugar in the pot, and heat it gently over a low to medium heat, stirring continuously until it melts. Be careful not to let it burn, which it does very easily. You will need to move fast now - remove the pot from the heat and immediately add your bicarb and stir well. It will fizz up. Immediately pour it onto the baking tray, and leave to set. It will burn you if you handle it too soon, so be careful, and don't be tempted to try it while it is still pliable.

Break into chunks and try not to eat it all at once! You can dip it into chocolate if you like. It does go gooey after a while, so keep it in greaseproof paper in an airtight container. Try some smashed up on icecream.

    Ingredients:
1 tin of condensed milk (Mr.M selling 2 for £1 at the moment)

    Equipment:
    Tinopener
Teaspoon or dessertspoon or tablespoon depending on taste

    Method:
Open tin. Dip spoon in, raise spoon and twirl to catch drips. Shove in mouth before drips start again. Repeat. And repeat. Until you start to feel slightly sick. If any is left place tin with spoon in freezer for condensed ice cream.

I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
