Abel & Cole

I didn't know Abel and Cole were owned by Lloyds. This has saddened me somewhat as I only really have good things to say about them as a company. Makes me feel dirty!
I've been using Abel and Cole for nearly a year now. I've always found their customer service to be top notch (a very big deal for me!) and I've also personally found if I try to do an organic shop in a supermarket, A+C tend to work out cheaper. We usually received a fruit box or a mixed fruit and veg box (their mangoes are seriously THE BEST mangoes), although we've tried their meat a few times and it is fantastic (pricey though). At Christmas I ordered some organic and nitrate free pigs in blankets. Best. Bacon. Ever.
They work out cheaper brand-for-brand for some of their cupboard foods. For example, the Ella's Kitchen kids fruit smoothie pouches are £3 per box, as opposed to the £3.25 Sainsburys charge, or the £3.75 my local organic grocer offers them for.
If you are a regular customer you often get freebies (we've had a cookbook (worth £13), milk, bread, selection of herbs) and often there are voucher codes on the back of your receipt for money off meat, or fish, or whatever they're promoting that week.
I do feel you get what you pay for. It may not last as long, but it's generally very delicious produce. It seems to me they try to balance boxes with fruit/veg that has a varying shelf life so you can maximise how long it will all last overall. I've found sticking some things (like their pears, which are also amazing and some have been the size of a toddler's head!) in the fridge on day of purchase greatly extends shelf life.0 -
