    Wow, that is amazing value!
I don't have one that close to me yet but I'm saving the link for future reference.

Just wondering if anyone uses Abel & Cole?
My girlfriend and I are thinking about it but not sure if it's worth while.
How does it compare to the supermarkets price wise?

**** Forgot to mention that I have a promo code to get the 4th box free! ****
**** Just enter VEGFREE when you place your first order by 9th December. ****

I have used Abel and Cole and Riverford Farm in the past and highly recommend both. I did the buy 3 boxes get the last one free offer. They phoned me to encourage me to start ordering from them again and advised me that the free box can be larger than the 3 paid for boxes so even if I ordered 3 small boxes and change my 4th order to the biggest box available it would be free. I did this and it worked, it is some time ago now, earlier this year but worth a go if you are ordering anyway!

Thanks for the tip! Why did you stop ordering?

Actually your post has made me think of ordering again! Stopping had nothing to do with their produce or service. I stopped as I found we didn't always use up the veg, even though it does last for ages, I had gone back to work and have 2 small children so cooking was a bit choatic and we tended to rely on batch cooked meals from the freezer but things are a bit more settled now so I may go back to them. We also have a very good local greengrocers and I do like to support local businesses.

I also like to support local businesses, and take my two little girls once a week to the greengrocers near me, which is a lot cheaper than the supermarket and the fruit and veg is much nicer, but have considered Abel & Cole in the past.

I have a salad box with Abel and Cole and haven't had it long but have had loads of free stuff! I had my 4th box free, 2 pints of milk, 500g yoghurt, 6 free range eggs, and this week I've had a recipe book. I also had a coupon for £5 off when I spent £10 on fish, and a similar coupon for meat but I can't remember exactly.

Also the Brown Cow yoghurts are amazing and you have to try them!

I'm usually out when they come but my driver leaves my box round the back of the house, and any chilled stuff I order is still chilled when I get home. They do other things besides just veg boxes.

i get all my milk off abel and cole. dh loves milk and after trying the stuff from there says supermarket stuff just doesn't compare. not much more expensive than ordinary milk but not homegenised and from a dairy herd where they really look after them.

have had fruit and veg off them and its all been very good, excellent customer service too

  • I have used Able & Cole a couple of times. Service is very good and the delivery driver very friendly. I put a note about preferring early deliveries and he even fit me in around walking the dog. They only deliver on one day a week near me, don't know if there is a greater frequency in other areas?

Don't use them as much these days, as I am spoilt for choice for farm shops with excellent quality - and cheaper -produce, but they occasionally telephone to see if I am wanting to send them an order!
  • I've tried both Abel and Riverford, but found A and C stuff didn't last as long, they had pushy sales staff and none of the stuff was grown locally
The Riverford stuff seems fresher, some of it is grown at and around my local farm and we never feel pressurised to order
Also A and C is owned by LLoyds bank whilst Riverford is still owned by the guy who started it and I don't like paying money to the banks!
