 Sounds like the head gasket.
It may have gone between the cylinder and coolant, so the engine is pressuring the coolant, hence the bubbles and leaking from the cap.0

Approx cost head gasket replacement? I know the parts are cheap but how many hours work we talking here?0

Have you checked the radiator is getting hot ? it should stay cool until the temp gage lifts and then get hot as the thermostat opens.
If it does not it could just be the thermostat, however the misfire does suggest its supping (water drawn in to the pots)
The milky oil is a bit of a mis conception, the most common type of head gasket failure is water drawn in to the engine bores on induction phase.
is the exhaust steaming like a kettle ?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Misfire is definitely an electrical problem. No spark at plug.
Got my mechanic mate looking at tomorrow so we'll see then I guess.
Been reading about this Barrs Seal stuff. Apparently, this makes the coolant appear very milky as well. I;m wondering know whether my dear young friend knew about the head gasket too and has tried this as a temp fix?0

It's a symptom of ONE type of HG failure not all but it is a common one.
As for the steam from the exhaust most backboxes have a large amount of water in them from condensation anyway which is why they all steam in the cold mornings. I've got one in the shed that took 4 MONTHS to dry out because it had so much water in there and that car had no HG problem (I still have the engine).

Possibly a duff coil then. I had this recently and it had me stumped for ages. It was sparking so we thought it was ok. Months later it still wouldn't start so we put another coil in and bingo - ignition first time.0

Head gaskets of both engines (0.8 and 1.0 litre) prone to failure due to overheating. This occurs because the plastic heater inlet manifolds eventually warp, losing coolant and leading to the overheating. Replacing the inlet manifold can cost more than the car is worth.
