I need 3 months bank statements, but have opted out!

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a new bank account with RBS, and they require me to take in 3 months bank statements from my current bank.

However, as I use online banking I've opted out of recieving statements, does anybody know whether if I go into a NatWest branch they will be able to print me off the statements I need? And also would there be a fee?

Thanks,
Current debts:
Wonga Loan - £0 :-)
Vanquis Credit Card - £500 (£500 limit) :(
Aqua Credit Card - £250 (250 limit) :-(
NatWest Credit Card - £500 (£500 limit) :(
NatWest Current account - £-1990 (£2000 overdraft limit) :(

If you use online banking you should be able to print them yourself from your statement history.

As lovintuk says you should be able to print off the online account.

Alternatively, if you telephone the online bank customer service they should be able to arrange for you to have a printed statement sent. That can take a couple of weeks to come through, though.
  • I don't have access to a printer without driving a few miles, and as I'll be in town anyway to open the new account I thought that NatWest may be able to print these for me?

Download a free pdf creator (Primo is OK) then print the statements to a .pdf file. You can then put them on a memory stick and take them into RBS. They can print the files if they want to.

The bank aren't going to put your flash drive into their systems, it could have anything on it. Also, they will not generally accept Internet printouts from non-internet banks.

IIRC NatWest will give the OP 3 months bank statements on request if they contact them and are using e-statements.

You can order it yourself online.

When you view your account transactions underneath it says "order a paper copy".

  • Hi,

Thanks everyone, I'm going to the RBS branch tomorrow so will need the statements for then, I'll try to get them printed out today I think, and then whilst I'm in town tomorrow I'll ask in NatWest to see if they'll print them out for me.

    Thanks for you advice,

You can still use my method to transfer the files to a PC with a printer.

Most banks will do copy statements the same day (although perhaps not 'whilst you wait') for free if you use internet banking and don't receive paper statements. There's usually a limit, like 1 free copy per statement month free and then £5 for each additional.

Looking at your signature, you already have 1990 od with Natwest and 500 on a Natwest credit card (Natwest Credit cards are underwritten by RBS). Do you really think you will get another account??
