Three issues that people are failing to understand in my post:

1.The PCN should not have been issued.
2.The metal restrictions which serve to prevent one from getting out of the car.
3.The councils will not hesitate to issue a ticket no matter how small the contravention.

If they act reasonably then no problem but then they don't and moreso, I once paid and challenged a ticket which I should not have paid because of fear of fighting against authorities. They never responded to the challenge presumably because paying was admission of guilt. Now I challenge authority and in most cases I have been proved right. That carpark is a scheme of generating money and maybe the attendant was also on a commission for issuing more tickets.

if you think you should get compensation... just remember that it would come out of your council tax, so any council tax rises are from paying compensation.

But their CEO 'S are paid six figure salaries. And if such occurrences are never challenged they will continue happenning and also if councils are not made to pay for their wrong doings they will continue making more and more .money

Get a grip, the Council have seen the light and dropped the ticket so you are in the clear, you got the ticket in the first place because you were over the line of the bay, if the steel work was in your way then why park there? why didnt you reverse into the space thus letting you exit the car from the opposite side? Honestly you must have a very cushy life if all that winds you up is getting a ticket, get a hobby and chill.
It was your fault, you didnt have to park there did you.

By all means challenge them, but not on the basis of "I want compensation". Do it on the basis that the parking bay might not be compliant with the Transport Signs and Regulations and General Directions 2002. This is the bible for ensuring parking bays are compliant. Go and look at the bay, measure it and see if it complies.

If it is non compliant then take it up with them to ensure no-one else will receive a PCN.

But to claim distress after one PCN is a non starter and will cause you more distress than the actual PCN.

None of that really caused any distress though did it! Come on, get real!!

Don't be so naive! If they have to cover the cost of compensation claims then council tax will go up - the CEO will still be paid the same (or more)!

Oh we understand you alright. Yoy got a dodgy ticket and you want to milk it for every last penny of compensation you think you can get from it. Council CEOs make mistakes. It's not intentional and usually when someone points out the error of their ways someone internally puts an end to it.

What a load of gibberish. Especially the part about commission. I used to be a CEO and I can only say no, they are not. If you even try claiming compo and using every excuse under the sun like this you're going to be laughed out of every court in the land. Commission and even PCN targets were banned by GREEDY GORDON of all people three years ago. Not that it makes any difference because you're convinced they're all out to get YOU.
